Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Technical Support Engineer to join our dynamic IT team. The successful candidate will provide expert assistance to our clients and internal teams, resolving technical issues efficiently across a range of hardware and software platforms. This role offers an excellent opportunity to utilise your technical expertise in a fast-paced environment, ensuring optimal system performance and customer satisfaction.
Responsibilities
- Deliver comprehensive technical support via phone, email, and remote access tools, assisting users with hardware and software issues.
- Troubleshoot and resolve problems related to computer networking, operating systems (Windows, macOS, Linux), and computer hardware components.
- Assist with software troubleshooting, including applications such as Microsoft Office, VPNs, firewalls, and enterprise tools like BMC Remedy, ServiceNow, and Jira.
- Support desktop support activities by configuring, maintaining, and upgrading user workstations and peripherals.
- Manage network connectivity issues involving LAN configurations and connectivity troubleshooting.
- Document support requests and resolutions accurately using ticketing systems such as BMC Remedy or ServiceNow.
- Communicate effectively with clients to understand their needs and provide clear guidance on technical solutions.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to escalate complex issues and ensure timely resolution.
Requirements
- Proven experience in technical support or IT support roles with a strong understanding of computer networking concepts.
- Proficiency in troubleshooting software issues across multiple operating systems including Windows, macOS, and Linux.
- Familiarity with network security components such as VPNs and firewalls.
- Experience supporting hardware components and peripherals in a professional environment.
- Knowledge of help desk ticketing systems like BMC Remedy, ServiceNow or Jira.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly to non-technical users.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise multiple tasks effectively.
- Customer service orientation with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
- Additional desirable skills include experience with LAN setup, operating system installation/configuration, desktop support procedures, and familiarity with IT service management tools. This role is ideal for candidates passionate about technology who thrive in providing exceptional customer support while maintaining high standards of professionalism and technical expertise.
