About the Role

We are a food-led freehouse pub looking for an experienced Shift Supervisor with a friendly personality, strong work ethic and a genuine passion for delivering excellent customer service.

Due to our rural location in Durley, applicants must have their own transport, as there is no local public transport.

You will work closely with our Manager and fellow Shift Supervisors to ensure smooth, well-run services across the pub. This is a hands-on role where you will lead by example, supporting and overseeing a team of up to six waiting staff across the different areas of the pub and garden, while working closely with the kitchen team.

You will be equally comfortable serving customers on the floor and working behind the bar, taking responsibility for the smooth running of service and dealing confidently with whatever the shift brings.

About You

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has a proven track record in front-of-house hospitality, ideally in a supervisory or similar role
  • Holds a Food Hygiene Level 3 certificate – essential
  • Has excellent communication and people skills
  • Is friendly, enthusiastic and approachable, with a strong work ethic
  • Shows initiative and is confident making decisions
  • Has excellent multitasking and organisational skills
  • Remains calm, professional and confident under pressure
  • Can work independently while also being a strong team player
  • Is comfortable both giving direction and taking direction
  • Leads by example and is happy to get stuck in wherever needed
  • Takes pride in providing outstanding customer service

A Personal Licence is preferred but is not essential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Running services alongside the Manager and other Shift Supervisors
  • Overseeing and supporting up to six waiting staff across the pub and garden
  • Coordinating closely with the kitchen to ensure smooth service
  • Serving customers across both the floor and bar
  • Delegating tasks and providing direction to the front-of-house team
  • Maintaining consistently high standards of service
  • Dealing confidently and professionally with customer requests and issues
  • Supporting the wider team wherever required during busy services

Working Pattern

The successful applicant will be mostly required at weekends, although flexibility is essential. Shifts may include days and evenings and may be either straight or split shifts.

No live-in accommodation is available.
