Full job description

We are looking for an organised and experienced Credit Controller with desired previous NHS experience to join the Accounts Receivable team and works collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders and maintaining high standard of integrity, and respect and taking accountability.

This is a key operational role which includes ownership and management of high-volume transactions across multiple healthcare income streams – covering all ledgers for both Trusts; Central London Community Health Care Trust & London North West University Healthcare Trust.

Responsible for credit control, accurate & timely invoicing, reduction of debt relating to NHS, Non-NHS debt, Overseas Patients, Private Patients, Overpaid salaries and associated sub-ledgers maintaining accurate financial records, resolving complex billing & payment queries, producing aged debt, month-end reports and ensuring compliance with organisational procedures and financial controls.

The role requires regular liaison with internal and external stakeholders, including Trusts, government bodies, debt collection agencies, charities, litigation services and other relevant organisations as required.

The role requires flexibility in supporting future organisational integrations, service expansions, and any additional changes within the Accounts Receivable function as operational requirements evolve.

Manage NHS, Non-NHS debt, Overseas Patients, Private Patients, Overpaid salaries across multiple Accounts Receivable ledgers and sub-ledgers for both Trusts Central London Community Health Care Trust & London North West University Healthcare Trust.
Chase outstanding debt using all modes communication.
Maintain the finance system with up to date information relating to the debt position.
Raise invoices, credit notes and account adjustments accurately and promptly.
Review and assess financial documentation before agreeing and negotiate payment plans.
Monitor and manage shared AR mail box and resolve queries.
Investigate and resolve billings, payment and debtor queries.
Liaise with internal & external stakeholders and take appropriate action promptly.
Work with debt collection agencies & litigation services as required.
Issue reminder letters and statements as per KPI’s.
Produce month-end debt and ad hoc Accounts Receivable reports.
Escalate complex and / or disputed accounts to resolve queries using initiative and sound judgements and perform reconciliation.
Ensure compliance with Trust procedures, financial controls and confidentiality requirements.
Flexibility to Support service improvements and operational changes within the Accounts Receivable functions as required.
Provide support to Manager on ad-hoc tasks as appropriate.
