Full job description

Diss Swim Centre has been part of the community of Diss for a long time and continues to offer a great customer experience. We are looking to welcome a Team Leader to our friendly and highly successful team. Every day at Diss Swim Centre is different and with a rolling shift pattern you will always be working with different people, activites and responsiblities to keep you motivated.

The role will involve opening and closing the building, leading the team through the shift, supervising the pool and other activities, ensuring the safety of all users by taking preventative measures and action as necessary. It will also involve providing operational support as and when needed to facilitate the smooth running of the centre, including cleaning, setting up for activity bookings, centre tours and reception duties. You will also be involved in assisting swim teachers with lessons as required, stock checks, health and safety checks, and will be required to provide necessary first aid when necessary. The role provides regular training to maintain skills and expertise and attain and maintain validation of competence. This role is perfect for someone looking to develop their leadership skills and progress into a future Management role.

Dealing with the public is the key element of this role, always ensuring that great customer service is provided.

About You

With a keen interest in leisure, the successful candidate will have the ability to inspire, motivate and encourage people through social activity. You will have great communication, teamwork and customer service skills, and have an understanding of safeguarding requirements. Previous experience in a leisure centre, together with experience of providing great customer service would be ideal.

An RLSS NPLQ (National Pool Lifeguard) and a First Aid Qualification are mandatory for this position. A PPO (Pool Plant Operator) qualification is also desirable but for the right candidate we can support this.

You will need to be able to work a combination of early, day and late shifts on a rota basis over a seven-day period to accommodate the centre’s opening hours.

Band B Salary will rise from April 26 in line with agreed National Pay Award,

We are currently participating in our national pay negotiations with the trade unions (UNISON). As an organisation we are also committed to being a Real Living Wage employer, meaning all of our staff are paid a minimum of £13.45 per hour which equates to £25,948 per annum (at a pro rata’d amount) and this forms part of these negotiations. Our advertised salary bands will be updated when formal negotiations are completed.
