Full job description

At North Lincolnshire Council, we are collectively organised around the people and place of North Lincolnshire. Together, we ensure that our communities are safe, well, prosperous and connected.

We are ambitious for North Lincolnshire and strive to make our area the #BestPlace for our residents by being the #BestCouncil we can be. We achieve this through living our values of equality of opportunity, excellence, integrity and self-responsibility in everything we do.

North Lincolnshire Council was named Local Authority of the Year at the MJ Achievement Awards 2026, recognising our commitment to delivering excellent outcomes for residents and communities. We were also ranked among the UK's Top 10 Most Productive Councils in 2024 and continue to be recognised nationally for the quality of our services and ambitious approach to place leadership.

We are currently seeking a dedicated and motivated Audit Officer. This is an exciting opportunity to join our team. We have made a number of recruitments in recent years as we continue to grow our team.

The role will be to conduct audit assignments, to complete audits to Global Internal Audit Standards and in line with local performance measures.

The successful candidate may have some experience in Audit or a similar finance related background, but if not will be willing to learn. Under supervision you will liaise with senior management in planning and delivery of assignments. You will be able to undertake audits aimed at improving controls, reducing risks and adding value across the organisation.

North Lincolnshire Council is committed to being an inclusive employer and we are happy to consider flexible working arrangements.

Closing date: 19 September 2026

Please see attached job description and employee specification which you should refer to when completing your application to demonstrate you meet the essential criteria for the role.

If you would like further information or to arrange a call about the role, please email: Debbie.baker@northlincs.gov.uk to arrange a mutually convenient time.

Candidates must be able to evidence their right to work in the UK. Please note the council does not hold a sponsor licence to sponsor people to work in the UK.

We are collectively organised around the people and place of North Lincolnshire. Together we ensure that our communities are safe, well, prosperous and connected. We are ambitious for North Lincolnshire, we want our area to be the #BestPlace for our residents by being the #BestCouncil we can be. We achieve this through living our values – equality of opportunity, excellence, integrity and self-responsibility – in all that we do.
