Full job description
Are you passionate about creating inclusive workplaces where everyone can thrive?
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated Reasonable Adjustment Co-ordinator to join the HR Team at Northumbria Healthcare.
This is a newly created 12-month fixed-term opportunity, funded to develop and embed a Trust-wide reasonable adjustments service and demonstrate the impact of a dedicated coordination role.
Working across HR, Occupational Health, Recruitment, Workforce Systems, IT, Procurement and Staff Networks, you will help ensure that disabled staff and those with long-term health conditions are able to access the support they need to remain healthy, engaged and successful at work.
You will lead on developing systems, processes and resources that support the identification, implementation and monitoring of reasonable adjustments, whilst acting as a trusted source of advice and support for managers and staff.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with experience of workplace inclusion, HR, wellbeing, case coordination or project management who is looking to develop a role that will have a lasting impact on staff experience across the Trust.
Please note we reserve the right to close this vacancy prior to the closing date once the required number of suitable applications have been received.
The Reasonable Adjustment Co-ordinator will:
Coordinate the implementation of workplace reasonable adjustments across the Trust.
Develop and implement a Workplace Adjustment Passport and supporting resources.
Create guidance, tools and training to improve manager confidence and capability.
Develop robust systems for recording, monitoring and reporting reasonable adjustment activity.
Act as the Trust's central point of contact for Access to Work, supporting applications and maximising available funding.
Work collaboratively with Occupational Health, HR, Workforce Systems, Recruitment, Procurement and Digital colleagues to improve processes and staff experience.
Support the development of inclusive recruitment and onboarding processes to ensure new starters receive appropriate workplace support from day one.
Engage with staff networks and employee groups to understand barriers and identify opportunities for improvement.
Analyse workforce data and trends to inform service development and organisational decision making.
Contribute to the Trust's Equality, Diversity and Inclusion objectives by promoting a positive and proactive approach to workplace adjustments.
We manage three major locality hospitals at North Tyneside, Wansbeck and Hexham, plus a number of smaller community hospitals and clinics from Tynemouth to Berwick on Tweed, covering one of the largest geographical areas of any NHS trust in the country. Leading in innovation and quality – opening a state of the art Northumbria Specialist Emergency Care Hospital, the first of its kind in England. Do you want to work in one of the best performing NHS organisations in England? Work in an organisation that supports its staff and focuses on staff experience as much as it does the experience of its patients? You can live and breathe in an area that has the cleanest air, cost effective living, great nightlife, some of the best schools with a wealth of history available on your doorstep. Sound too good to be true? Well it isn’t, this is what you get when you work for Northumbria Healthcare, this is the Northumbria Way! Please read ‘applicant guidance notes’ before submitting your application.
The successful candidate will take a leading role in developing and embedding a Trust-wide approach to workplace reasonable adjustments.
Working closely with colleagues across HR, Occupational Health, Recruitment, Workforce Systems and Staff Networks, you will develop policies, processes and resources that support staff requiring workplace adjustments and ensure compliance with the Equality Act 2010.
You will coordinate workplace adjustment and Access to Work cases, monitor implementation, analyse data and identify opportunities for service improvement. The role will also involve developing manager guidance and training, supporting induction programmes and contributing to wider Equality, Diversity and Inclusion initiatives.
As this is a new role, there will be significant opportunity to shape the future direction of the service and contribute to the development of innovative approaches that improve accessibility, staff wellbeing, retention and inclusion across the Trust.
