Job Summary

Aspray are a leading loss assessing company within the property damage claims sector. We offer a nationwide service for policyholders (commercial and residential) delivered throughout the UK.

We are looking for a loss assessor to join our growing Head Office team and project manage insurance claims on behalf of policyholders in Northern Ireland.

You can expect to survey properties that have suffered damage caused by impact, flooding, fire, storm, subsidence and water damage, and prepare a detailed scope of the required repairs and other specification documents for presentation to insurers and loss adjusters.

You will negotiate and settle claims directly with insurers or loss adjuster ensuring the best possible outcome for the policyholder.

The successful applicant will ideally have project management experience working within the insurance or construction industry or have previous experience working within the fire and flood restoration sector. The successful applicant must be willing to attend additional training courses to upskill and develop their knowledge.

The successful applicant will be required to attend Aspray’s Head Office in Darwen, Lancashire for an initial 2-week training programme.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Meeting with policyholders, surveying damaged properties and producing a scope of works for the repairs covered under the insurance.
  • Determining the condition and construction of buildings
  • Meeting insurers representative on site to validate and negotiate claim settlements.
  • Carrying out your duties in the context of current building regulations
  • Project managing sub-contractors on site and overseeing reinstatement works through to completion.
  • Purchasing necessary materials and equipment.
  • Sourcing & vetting new quality sub-contractors.
  • Ensuring projects are completed on budget and to schedule.
  • Promote and maintain health and safety.
  • Conduct sign off visits for completed claims to ensure all work has been carried out satisfactorily and to the required standard.

Key Qualifications and Skills:

  • Building surveying knowledge
  • Project management of property reinstatements and sub-contractors.
  • Good technical knowledge of construction.
  • Good technical knowledge or drying techniques (desirable)
  • Leak detection knowledge (desirable).
  • Property insurance knowledge (desirable).
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Keen attention to detail
  • Effective time management and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Good understanding of health and safety regulations inc CDM.
  • UK driving license.

Company vehicle will be provided.

Annual Leave 28 days per annum (includes Bank Holidays). Normal hours of work: 9.00am to 5.00pm Mon- Thursday, 9.00am-4.30pm on Friday.
