Full job description

Nursery Practitioner — Guardian House, Godalming Castle Nursery & Pre-School Group

Borough Road, Godalming (100 yards from the train station, on-site car park) [Full-time / part-time - 24 hours per week]

Be part of something brand new

Guardian House is the newest setting in the Castle Nursery & Pre-School Group, which has been delivering outstanding early years care since 1995. Following a comprehensive refurbishment, we've created a bright, modern nursery with five purpose-built rooms designed around the developmental needs of each age range - from babies through to pre-school.

This is a rare chance to help shape a setting from the early days, working alongside an experienced and supportive leadership team in a nursery built to a genuinely high standard.

What makes Guardian House special

Children here learn through nature and real experiences. Our garden features age-zoned outdoor areas with a variety of surfaces - astroturf and wet-pour play zones - and a nursery allotment where children grow their own fruit and vegetables, which are then prepared by our on-site nursery cook. It's early years education the way it should be: hands-on, curious, and connected to the world around them.

The setting is ideally placed for families and staff alike, just off Godalming High Street, 100 yards from the train station, with a large on-site car park.

About the role

As a Nursery Practitioner you'll:

  • Plan and deliver engaging, play-based learning experiences in line with the EYFS framework
  • Act as a key person for a group of children, building strong relationships and tracking their development
  • Work in partnership with parents and carers, sharing observations and next steps
  • Maintain a safe, nurturing and inclusive environment, following all safeguarding and welfare requirements
  • Support children's daily routines, wellbeing and independence with warmth and patience

What we're looking for

  • A Level 3 Early Years qualification - or a willingness to obtain one.
  • A genuine passion for early childhood and a play-led, child-centred approach
  • Solid understanding of the EYFS and safeguarding (KCSIE / Working Together)
  • Warmth, energy and the reliability to be a trusted key person
  • The right to work in the UK and willingness to undergo an enhanced DBS check

What we offer

  • A brand-new, purpose-built setting with excellent resources
  • A supportive, experienced leadership team and genuine career progression within a growing group
  • A fantastic location with great transport links and free parking

Castle Nursery & Pre-School Group is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. All appointments are subject to an enhanced DBS check, satisfactory references and full pre-employment safer recruitment checks.

Pay: Up to £15.00 per hour

Work Location: In person
