Job Description: Private Family Personal Carer (Elderly Care) – Burntisland Area

Role Overview:

Unique opportunity to be be part of a small team, taking the lead with care, supporting and elderly but able couple in their own home. The role will evolve with the support needs of the couple. Working in a person-centred way with dignity, respect and confidentiality.

You will need to want to be involved with all aspects of daily living including housekeeping, cooking and social activities. There will be elements of personal care, medication prompts and safe handling and moving.

The role is about supporting independence, personal choice and wellbeing. You will need to be confident with dogs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Being involved in the running of a family home and supporting independent living
  • Being able to work as part of a small team and liaise with family members
  • Light household duties including on occasion meal preparation
  • Medication prompts and supporting with auditory devices
  • Practical and emotional support
  • Accompanying to appointments and recording information to update family members
  • Elements of personal care on a needs basis, and evolving to suit care
  • Support and mobility including safe moving and handling
  • Support with IT and tech (basic)

Essential Requirements:

  • PVG (Protecting Vulnerable Groups) membership or willingness to obtain, costs will be covered
  • Reasonable level of physical fitness to support with day-to-day tasks, moving, handling and mobility
  • Able to work as part of a small team
  • Strong communication skills and a caring, patient approach
  • Ability to work independently and use initiative
  • Confident managing emergency situations where needed (NHS24, 999)
  • Right to work in the UK
  • Full UK driving licence
  • Flexibility to work overnight and at weekends as required
  • Basic cooking skills
  • Comfortable around dogs

Desirable Qualifications & Skills:

  • Nursing or social care qualifications or equivalent
  • Experience of working in elderly care
  • Moving & handling
  • First aid
