Develop into an Advanced Clinical Practitioner with the time, funding and supervision to succeed.

Fuse Health is looking for two motivated and experienced registered healthcare professionals to join us as Trainee Advanced Clinical Practitioners.

This is a structured development opportunity combining clinical practice with a fully funded master’s degree in Advanced Clinical Practice.

You will work across acute, primary, urgent and community care services in Derby, developing the clinical knowledge, practical capability, leadership skills and professional confidence required to practise as an autonomous Advanced Clinical Practitioner.

Twenty per cent of each working week, equivalent to approximately 7.5 hours, is allocated to university study, training and professional development.

You will be supported by dedicated educational and clinical supervisors, senior ACPs and a consultant throughout the programme.

The opportunity

As a Trainee ACP, you will:

• Complete a fully funded MSc in Advanced Clinical Practice
• Receive 20% protected training and university time each week
• Develop advanced clinical assessment and examination skills
• Learn to assess and manage patients presenting with undifferentiated illness
• Gain experience across acute, primary, urgent and community care
• Develop clinical reasoning, diagnosis and treatment-planning skills
• Work towards safe and effective autonomous practice
• Build competence in clinical leadership, education, research and service improvement
• Maintain an evidence-based clinical portfolio
• Participate in regular supervision, teaching and reflective practice
• Contribute to the development of accessible, high-quality local healthcare services

Your responsibilities and level of autonomy will increase gradually in line with your demonstrated competence, university progress and agreed development plan.

Your working week

This is a full-time role of 37.5 hours per week.

Approximately:

• 80%-30 hours: supported clinical practice and workplace development
• 20%-7.5 hours: protected university study, training and professional development

Clinical experience:

The programme provides experience across a varied clinical environment, including:

• Acute care
• Primary care
• Urgent care
• Community care
• Multidisciplinary working with GPs, consultants, ACPs and other healthcare professionals

This breadth of experience will help you develop the capabilities needed to assess and manage patients across different care settings.

Training and supervision

You will receive:

• Nursing
• Paramedicine

• Other appropriate allied health professions, subject to university eligibility and service requirements

Essential requirements

You must have:

• Current registration with the appropriate UK professional regulator
• A relevant healthcare degree or equivalent recognised qualification
• Relevant post-registration clinical experience
• Experience of assessing and caring for patients in an appropriate clinical setting
• Evidence of continuing professional development
• The ability to undertake postgraduate study at master’s level
• The ability to meet the selected university’s entry requirements
• A commitment to completing the full MSc programme
• Strong communication and multidisciplinary-working skills
• A commitment to patient safety and evidence-based practice
• The ability to reflect on practice and respond constructively to supervision
• The ability to work across different clinical environments in Derby

Desirable experience

It would be helpful to have:

• Experience in acute, primary, urgent, emergency or community care
• Experience assessing patients with undifferentiated presentations
• Evidence of leadership, teaching or mentorship
• Experience of audit or quality improvement
• An interest in research and service development
• Experience working across organisational or professional boundaries
• An existing portfolio demonstrating clinical development
• Prescribing Quaslification
• Previous level 7 study

Salary and progression

The salary range for this role is £46,000–£58,000 per year.

The appointed salary and progression through the range will depend on completion of training milestones and previous acredited learning.
