About Us

The Oak Barn Restaurant is a family-run, independent, top-rated 150-cover Restaurant & Bar in Mid Sussex. We pride ourselves on creating Rosette-standard modern British cuisine, combining timeless classics with contemporary flair. Our menus are seasonal, locally sourced & freshly prepared to order, with daily specials & catering for weddings, buffets & large group bookings paired with excellent customer service.

The Role

We are seeking a dynamic & passionate Assistant Manager to join our busy restaurant. This is a perfect role for someone looking to develop their front of house skills & management skills.

Food Service Times

• Monday – Saturday: 12pm – 3pm & 6pm – 9pm
• Sunday: 12pm – 7pm
• Shifts can include: 930am-4pm / 1130am – 4pm / 530pm-11pm (approx.*)

Responsibilities

- Hosting & Maîtres D’: manage reservations, greeting and seating customers on arrival

- Oversee the timely & accurate delivery of food & drink

- Confidently answer questions regarding menus & make recommendations

- Support opening & closing procedures

- Support smooth daily operations & assisting directors

- Maintaining standards of quality control, hygiene, health & safety

- Training new staff to our high standard of service

- Collaborate with kitchen to ensure our food quality and presentation

- Organise & manage events and create promoting social media content

- Develop and implement strategies for high revenue

The Ideal Candidate

• Solid & proven management experience in restaurants or gastro pubs
• Natural flair & passion for customer service, leadership & management
• Strong organisational skills & a committed, consistent & detail-oriented work approach
• Thrives under pressure in a fast-paced environment
• Excellent communication & interpersonal skills
• Own transport essential
• No accommodation provided – UK-based applicants only

Pay: Up to £40,000.00 per year
