Northwood Hospital is one of Bristol's newest and most exciting private healthcare facilities. Opened in October 2025, our purpose-built hospital has been designed to deliver exceptional patient care within a modern, premium clinical environment.

Conveniently located close to the M32 and Bristol Parkway Station, the hospital features two state-of-the-art operating theatres, an eight-bed inpatient ward, a six-bed day case suite, and three outpatient consulting rooms.

We currently specialise in plastic and reconstructive surgery and are embarking on an exciting period of growth, with plans to expand our surgical services into general, orthopaedics, and ophthalmology, with ongoing plans for service expansion. This presents a unique opportunity for Theatre Practitioners to join us at an exciting stage in our development and play a key role in shaping our perioperative services as we grow.

We are seeking experienced and motivated Bank Theatre Practitioners to join our perioperative team. Opportunities are available within Anaesthetics, Scrub, and Recovery, supporting the delivery of high-quality, patient-centred care across a range of surgical specialties.

The Opportunity

Working on a flexible bank basis, you will support our theatre teams as required, helping to deliver outstanding clinical outcomes and an exceptional patient experience.

This role is ideal for experienced Theatre Practitioners seeking additional shifts, greater flexibility, or the opportunity to work within a modern consultant-led private hospital.

Key ResponsibilitiesClinical Practice

  • Deliver safe, high-quality care within your designated area of practice (Anaesthetics, Scrub, or Recovery).
  • Demonstrate clinical competence and confidence within your specialist area.
  • Ensure all WHO safety checks are completed in line with best practice.
  • Maintain compliance with instrument, swab and needle counts where appropriate.
  • Support anaesthetic procedures and patient monitoring.
  • Deliver safe and effective post-operative care and recovery monitoring.
  • Ensure accurate documentation and effective patient handovers.

Patient Experience

  • Deliver compassionate, professional and patient-centred care.
  • Maintain patient dignity, privacy and comfort at all times.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, relatives and colleagues.
  • Contribute to a seamless patient journey within a private healthcare environment.

Theatre & Environment

  • Ensure theatres and clinical areas are safe, clean and fully prepared.
  • Support stock control and equipment checks.
  • Adhere to infection prevention and control standards.
  • Report faulty or unsafe equipment promptly.

Teamwork & Flexibility

  • Work collaboratively with consultants and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Support efficient theatre lists and service delivery.
  • Adapt to changing workloads and service requirements.
  • Be available to work a variety of shifts, including weekdays, evenings, weekends and on-call commitments where required.

Quality, Safety & Governance

  • Comply with all hospital policies, procedures and clinical governance standards.
  • Report incidents, near misses and patient safety concerns appropriately.
  • Participate in audit and quality improvement activities.
  • Maintain confidentiality and professional standards at all times.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Registered Nurse (RN/RGN) or Operating Department Practitioner (ODP) qualification.
  • Current NMC or HCPC registration.
  • Proven experience within at least one of the following areas:
  • Anaesthetics
  • Scrub
  • Recovery
  • Knowledge of perioperative standards and best practice.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Strong focus on patient experience and clinical excellence.
  • Professional, calm and compassionate approach.
  • Flexible and reliable attitude to work.

Desirable

  • Experience within a private healthcare setting.
  • Competence across multiple perioperative disciplines.
  • Experience across a variety of surgical specialities.
  • Immediate Life Support (ILS) certification.
  • Evidence of ongoing CPD and competency development.
