Full job description

We're looking for team members to join one of our pizza food trucks for the 2026 season. Over-looking St Ives Harbour, our food truck probably has the best location in the town. Life doesn’t get better than this!

You’ll be working with a team of three to four people each evening in an environment that is dynamic, professional and fun under the leadership of our Food Truck Manager.

The ideal candidate

Qualities we are looking for include:

  • A can-do, positive person
  • Someone who takes pride in doing a great job
  • A willingness to learn, their best always getting better
  • A team player, ready to work positively and collaboratively with others, to support and be supported.
  • A natural people person whether that's interactions with customers, or your team colleagues
  • Ready to focus and work hard when there's a rush on, knowing that you can take it a bit easier when things quieten down.
  • Well presented, knowing the high standards we expect

It would be an advantage to have food/hospitality industry experience, but not a deal-breaker if you don't - we can teach you how to make great pizza. What you definitely need is a positive, can-do attitude and a high achieving ambition.

Most of our team are in the age range 17-21 years old, often college/uni students or seasonaires, so whilst we might look like a bunch of pizza beach bums, we have some seriously smart and capable staff. And many of them are returners, so you're joining a team of pizza making experts who will help you learn and build up to their capability.

We’re great believers in work-life balance, so with shifts starting at 3:30pm, there’s plenty of time to enjoy the beach and surf during the day. A pre-work dip or surf can be a daily occurrence being so close to the beach.

About Stoned Pizza

Stoned is a brand that has grown quickly since 2020, now with six pizza trucks along the South West’s north coast, employing over 40 seasonal staff and an annual turnover of almost £1m. Our aim is to employ the best people, in inspiring locations, making great wood-fired pizza and special memories for everyone.

Shifts generally start at 15:30 and finish anything between 21:00 and 23:00 depending on the season.

More about the role

Each pizza truck has between two and five in a team depending on the season and how busy we are. It's intense work on many days in the summer months, with more relaxed times in between. There are four main roles on a truck and we'll build your capability in all of them over time. Everyone builds towards being able to do everything, so you get lots of variety, never a dull moment.

  • Front of House - this is the primary customer facing role - taking orders, calculating timings for collection and handing out pizzas. You're the friendly, professional face of Stoned, effusing charm and charisma : )
  • Creating bases - there's more of a skill to this than you might imagine - dough has a mind of its own! Long fermentation dough is delivered daily from our central kitchen and you make the dough balls at the start of service, before hand-rolling them into perfectly imperfect 12" bases as orders come in. It's quite physical, so you get a great work-out if that's what you want.
  • Topping - agility, speed and knowledge of our pizza ingredients is what you need here. It looks easy, but you've got bases to keep up with and an oven to feed. Making sure you get the orders right is key and a focus on allergens, food preferences is key.
  • Cooking - this is the hardest job and not only requires the skill to cook a pizza, but the experience to run a wood fired oven. You'll get lots of training and support from your Manager and once you have this skill, you're the real deal and heading for a Deputy Manager role in time to come.

Location

Your place of work would be St Ives and you'd need to be living locally.
