Programme Delivery Officer – Older Adults

Responsible to Older Adults Service Manager Salary £27,000 – 28,000 Terms - 37.5 hours per week - 12-month Fixed Term Contract (August 2027)

· Covering Cambridgeshire, with office based in St Ives and delivery across the county

Living Better is a charity that supports people to live healthier, more active lives through community-based health and wellbeing work. We deliver community programmes, events, and partnerships across Cambridgeshire and Peterborough.

ABOUT THE ROLE

We are looking for a Programme Deliver Officer for Older Adults. In this role you will work across the Place Universal Project and the Forever Active service at Living Better to deliver safe, effective and engaging provision to older adults including strength and balance classes, whilst also delivering alternative provision where best suited (such as, low impact social games) supporting participants to improve strength, balance, confidence, reduce isolation and overall wellbeing.

Key Responsibilities

· Deliver test and learn projects focusing on the targeted older adults’ communities with Huntingdonshire for the Place Universal Project.

· Support and inform sustainability outcomes through building relationships with partners within the test and learn projects.

· Deliver and coordinate progressive Strength and Balance classes based on the OTAGO programme.

· Encourage and motivate participants to complete home exercises.

· Complete baseline and follow up measures with participants.

· Accurately record and analyse data, contributing insights to inform outcomes of the Place Universal project and to add to Forever Active service improvement suggestions based on findings.

· Deliver presentations and community engagement sessions to raise awareness of falls prevention measures, this may include sessions with stakeholders, health and social care professionals, and members of the public.

· Identify suitable venues, conduct risk assessments and manage venue bookings.

· Maintain awareness of safeguarding issues and act on concerns in line with Living Better’s policies and procedures.

· Prioritise, organise, and manage workload effectively to ensure high-quality service delivery.

· Provide exceptional participant care, demonstrating empathy and professionalism.

· Support with Forever Active service development and delivery where required.

· Ensure equality, diversity, and inclusion principles are embedded in planning, delivery, and evaluation, in line with Living Better’s values and standards.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

Skills and Attributes

· Ability to plan and manage own time and workload effectively.

· Strong communication skills, including written, verbal, non-verbal and listening abilities.

· Ability to maintain accurate and up-to-date records to support data collection and monitoring/evaluation requirements.

· Good numeracy and literacy skills.

· Empathetic and able to support participants striving to improve their health and wellbeing.

· Strong relationship-building skills, with the ability to engage effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds and target populations.

· Computer literate.

· Flexible and adaptable approach to work.

· Organisational and planning abilities, with the capacity to prioritise tasks and manage competing deadlines.

· Effective team player, while also able to work independently when engaging with communities.

Knowledge and Experience

· Experience of implementing and delivering group-based exercise programmes to older adults and varying need groups such as those with health conditions or at risk of falling.

· Ability to motivate individuals and groups.

· Experience of working with targeted communities, in particular older people.

· Knowledge of common risk factors that cause people to fall.

· Awareness of NICE guidance relating to falls.

· Awareness of the benefits of strength and balance exercises.

· Knowledge and understanding of the Patient Confidentiality Act and the Data Protection Act.

· Managing own workload, to ensure tasks are completed on time and to a high standard.

· Using software systems to document, collate and evidence work.

Education, Qualifications, and Training

· Relevant qualifications for delivering exercise classes for older adults.

· Full UK Driving licence and access to a car for work with business purposes insurance.

· Evidence of a personal commitment to continuing professional development and to maintaining an up-to-date professional knowledge supporting the development of business within the company.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Living Better operates a hybrid work location policy. There is access to an office every day of the week, or staff can choose to work from home. We also encourage co-location with partners, to build more effective working relationships. As a delivery role the Officer will be required to travel to community locations throughout the week, with particular focus initially across Huntingdonshire, but also countywide as the role progresses (Cambridgeshire and Peterborough), to deliver classes and interventions.

As there will be a need for travel around the partnership area of Cambridgeshire and Peterborough and wider which will necessitate the postholder having access to suitable transport. If driving oneself, a current valid driving licence and access to a vehicle available for work purposes with business cover insurance is required.
