Hours: 36.66 per week
Location: Sir Robert Peacock House, Vulcan Street, Oldham OL1 4LA

Role Overview:
This is a career graded post, and we welcome applications from both experienced officers and recently qualified graduates working towards professional registration.
You will be part of a team of EHOs and other professionals who carry out inspections, investigations.
You will be working mainly within the Neighbourhood Enforcement Team (Pollution Control) but also engage in other aspects of Environmental Health work to gain a wide varied knowledge of Environmental Health activities.
The successful candidate will be enthusiastic and highly motivated with the drive to get the best out of themselves and others. You will be an excellent communicator and be able to deal effectively with difficult and complex situations to achieve positive outcomes. You will be a team player and have the ability to forge good working relationships with internal and external stakeholders at all levels
Key Responsibilities:
- Responding to complaints/enquiries relating to noise, air, land, and water pollution, drainage, public health issues, housing and HMO licensing.
- Support the completion of any environmental health monitoring and inspection programmes and follow up action, as necessary.
- Undertake routine investigation work and follow up on actions as appropriate, including collection of evidence, letter writing, service of notices, and giving evidence in Court in accordance with local agreed policies and procedures
Key Requirements:
To succeed in this role, you will need as a minimum:
- A degree in Environmental Health
- Qualified or working towards EHRB/CIEH registration
- Knowledge of environmental protection and housing legislation
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills
- Passionate about protecting public health and improving communities
- Excellent organisational skills will be needed to manage a diverse and busy workload.
