About Us

Access Fibre Ltd is a growing startup delivering fibre infrastructure solutions with a strong focus on quality, agility and long-term growth. As we scale, we offer genuine opportunities for rapid career progression, the chance to make a visible impact, and a remote-first hybrid working environment that supports flexibility and collaboration.

About the Opportunity

We are looking for a skilled and detail-oriented Fibre Designer to join our growing team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with telecoms or fibre network design experience who wants to work on high-quality infrastructure projects and develop their career in a fast-growing business. You will work closely with survey, planning and delivery teams to produce practical, compliant and cost-effective fibre designs across FTTH/FTTP, FTTx and backbone network projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Produce detailed fibre network designs for FTTH/FTTP, FTTx, and backbone networks
  • Interpret survey data, GIS mapping, and client specifications to develop network solutions
  • Design fibre routes across ducted, underground, pole, and overhead infrastructure
  • Create splice diagrams, jointing plans, and associated network documentation
  • Use industry-standard tools such as QGIS, AutoCAD, ArcGIS, or equivalent telecom design software
  • Ensure all designs comply with relevant industry standards, build specifications, and health & safety regulations
  • Liaise with surveyors, planners, civil engineering teams, and project managers
  • Conduct feasibility assessments and support cost estimation of proposed designs
  • Identify and resolve design conflicts, constraints, and build risks
  • Maintain accurate records and manage design revisions throughout project delivery
  • Support as-built updates and handover documentation for operational teams

What Good Looks Like

  • Experience in fibre optic network design, telecoms design, or utilities infrastructure design
  • Strong communication skills for coordination with internal and external stakeholders
  • Strong understanding of FTTH/FTTP network architecture
  • Proficiency in design and mapping tools (QGIS, AutoCAD, ArcGIS, or similar platforms)
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings, GIS data, and engineering plans
  • Knowledge of telecom infrastructure standards (e.g., Openreach or equivalent)
  • Understanding of duct, pole, and underground fibre build methods
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving ability
  • High attention to detail and accuracy in design work
  • Ability to work independently and within multidisciplinary teams

Desirable

  • Qualification in Telecommunications, Engineering, GIS, or a related discipline
  • Experience on large-scale fibre rollout programmes
  • Knowledge of fibre splicing, jointing, and field survey practices
  • Familiarity with PIA (Physical Infrastructure Access) processes and standards

What We Offer

  • The opportunity to shape design processes and standards within a growing startup
  • Rapid career progression as the company scales
  • A direct role in supporting live fibre rollout and infrastructure delivery projects
  • Exposure to the full project lifecycle, from design through to delivery and handover
  • A remote-first hybrid working environment with flexibility and collaboration

We welcome applications from all suitably qualified candidates regardless of age, disability, gender identity, marriage or civil partnership, pregnancy or maternity, race, religion or belief, sex, or sexual orientation.
