Full job description

Role Summary

We are seeking a skilled Ophthalmology Technician to support Glaucoma Outpatient clinics. The postholder will assist in delivering high‑quality diagnostic testing and patient support within a busy glaucoma service, ensuring efficient clinic flow and accurate clinical recordings.

This role is suitable for technicians with experience in ophthalmic diagnostics and a strong understanding of glaucoma monitoring pathways.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the delivery of Glaucoma OP clinics by performing key diagnostic tests, including:
  • Visual acuity testing
  • Intraocular pressure (IOP) measurements (e.g., Goldmann, iCare, Tonopen)
  • Visual field testing (Humphrey / Octopus)
  • OCT scans and other ophthalmic imaging
  • Prepare patients for examinations and guide them through diagnostic procedures.
  • Maintain and calibrate ophthalmic equipment as required.
  • Work closely with ophthalmologists, optometrists, nurses, and administrative staff to support smooth clinic operations.
  • Ensure accurate and timely documentation of test results and patient information.
  • Uphold infection control measures and patient safety standards.
  • Provide clear, compassionate communication to patients regarding tests and clinic processes.

Essential Requirements

  • Experience working as an Ophthalmology Technician or in a diagnostic ophthalmic role.
  • Competency in visual field testing, OCT imaging, and IOP measurement.
  • Understanding of the clinical needs of glaucoma monitoring.
  • Ability to work in a fast‑paced outpatient environment.
  • Strong communication and patient‑interaction skills.

Job Types: Part-time, Temporary
Contract length: 3 months

Pay: £300.00 per day

Expected hours: No less than 10 per week
