Full job description

Gardener (skilled) - Surrey

£30,000 - £38,000 a year.

Willowhayne Gardens Ltd are looking for an experienced gardener to join their team of 15 likeminded, supportive and dedicated gardeners. This is a full time position but 4 days per week will be considered for the right candidate.

This role suits someone who values professionalism and being part of a supportive team. We prioritise attitude and reliability over background, but a minimum of 2 years’ experience in professional gardening is essential.

We are appointed to care for large domestic gardens to a high spec. We work across West Sussex and Surrey but this position is suitable for someone who lives near to Guildford or Haslemere, The ideal candidate will:

- Have a uk driving licence and access to a vehicle

- seamlessly fit in to our friendly, hardworking team

- work professionally, minimising disruption and fuss for the client

- be happy to work through all seasons and weather

- be able to confidently identify alchemilla, nepeta, a tree peony and pittosporum.

Our diverse range of gardens offer a variety of gardening styles. From formal topiary, niwaki, parterres and croquet lawns, to kitchen gardens, cutting gardens, orchards, long herbaceous borders, meadows and woodland. There is plenty of opportunity for further professional development, if you wish. RHS qualifications are offered to any staff member that shows willing.

As an employee focussed employer we adapt job roles as life circumstances change, to ensure a healthy work-life balance. Eg as more of the team became parents for the first time we made changes so everyone now clocks off by 3:30pm every day.

We work in teams of 2, 3 or 4 but frequently rotate the teams so we all get to work with each other. A work day is 7:30am - 3:30pm, as a team, in one large garden per day. We don't have a yard as such, we just meet on site at 7:30am and leave for home at 3:30pm.

Please see our instagram page for examples of our gardens.
