About Us

St Michael’s Hospice supports and enables the community of Hastings and Rother to live well with dying, death and loss. Our services are provided via in-patient beds and at home and we also offer Wellbeing support, both out-patient and virtual.

We want to recruit and retain the most diversely talented people and have a workforce representative of our community. We aspire to be a place where everyone feels welcome; whether you are cared for or supported by us, employed by us, volunteer for us, or support us in any way. We recognise that being a diverse and inclusive organisation will enable us to achieve our vision of a kind, resilient and empowered community.

The Role

We are seeking a highly organised and proactive Personal Assistant (PA) to support the Medical Director across St Michael’s Hospice, Hastings and Rother and St Wilfrid’s Hospice, Eastbourne. This is a key role that provides high-level administrative support to coordinate the Medical Director’s priorities, stakeholder relationships and day-to-day activities across both organisations and with key external partners.

Working across two hospices, you will play a pivotal role in helping the Medical Director navigate differing organisational structures, governance processes, systems and ways of working. You will build effective relationships with colleagues and external partners, coordinate activity across a complex network of stakeholders and ensure information, actions and priorities are managed effectively.

You’ll bring:

  • Significant experience in a PA or senior administrative support role
  • Excellent Microsoft 365 skills
  • Strong written communication
  • Ability to manage complex diaries, inboxes and meeting arrangements.
  • Confidence in handling sensitive information, working across organisational boundaries and supporting the delivery of high-quality documentation and meeting processes.

If you’re a proactive team player who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys bringing structure and coordination to complex environments, we’d love to hear from you.

The role offers flexibility in working patterns and therefore requires a high level of professionalism, discretion and integrity.

Employee Benefit's

At St Michael’s Hospice we offer:

  • A friendly, team-orientated work environment
  • A good pension scheme with the option to continue any existing NHS pension scheme membership
  • An Employee Assistance Programme (Benenden Healthcare)
  • Up to 33 days annual leave plus bank holidays,
  • Subsidised employee meals and free refreshments
  • Free parking
  • Supportive supervision
  • A proactive Education Department to support with your development.
  • Hospice employees also qualify for a Blue Light Card with access to a huge array of discounts.

If you would like to discuss the role in further detail, please contact Jude Cornelius-Scott, Business Support & Change Manager on 01424 445177, extension 170.
