Veterinary Surgeon

Salary: From £55,000 per annum, depending on experience

We are seeking a dedicated Veterinary Surgeon to join our friendly and supportive team.

Working Pattern

  • 40-hour week worked across 4 weekdays
  • 1 in 3 Saturday mornings (08:30–13:00) with additional pay
  • No other weekend work
  • No bank holiday or out-of-hours commitments
  • Out-of-hours service fully covered by the RCVS-accredited provider

Annual Leave

  • 22 days' holiday plus bank holidays (equivalent to 240 hours)

Clinical Support and Workload

  • 20-minute consultation appointments as standard
  • Flexibility to extend consultation times for complex cases and euthanasia appointments
  • Dedicated admin time built into each working day
  • Protected, paid one-hour lunch break (working days are 10 hours in total)

Practice Facilities

We are a dog-friendly and cat-friendly accredited practice, with our clinical setup, rota planning, and handling techniques centred around patient welfare.

Facilities include:

  • Digital X-ray
  • Dental X-ray
  • High-quality ultrasound machine
  • In-house IDEXX laboratory
  • Two operating theatres
  • Three consultation rooms
  • Separate euthanasia suite
  • Separate dog, cat, and isolation wards

We also offer:

  • Regular laser therapy clinics
  • Intra-articular joint injection services
  • Visiting orthopaedic specialists
  • Visiting advanced diagnostic imaging services

Team and Development

You will be working alongside:

  • Two experienced Veterinary Surgeons, including an Advanced Practitioner in Ophthalmology
  • Vets currently working towards certificates in General Practice and Soft Tissue Surgery
  • Four Registered Veterinary Nurses (RVNs)
  • One Veterinary Care Assistant (VCA)

This role would particularly suit a candidate with an interest in diagnostic imaging or cardiology, although we welcome applications from vets with all clinical interests and are committed to supporting professional development wherever possible.
