Mixed Veterinary Surgeon

Salary up to £70,000 | 4-Day Week | Independent Practice |

Looking for a practice where your voice matters?

Imagine working somewhere you genuinely feel part of a team. A place where your ideas are welcomed, your development is encouraged, and your work-life balance is respected.

At Chaseview Veterinary Clinic, we are proud to remain one of the few independent mixed practices in the region. Many of our colleagues and clients have been with us for years, creating a supportive and friendly environment where people enjoy coming to work.

We believe that great veterinary care starts with a happy, motivated team. That's why we encourage everyone to contribute ideas, embrace innovation, and help shape the future of the practice.

Why Ross-on-Wye?

Set in the beautiful Wye Valley, Ross-on-Wye offers an exceptional quality of life. Whether you enjoy walking, mountain biking, canoeing, paddleboarding, rowing, or simply exploring stunning countryside, it's all on your doorstep.

For those looking to escape city life without compromising on career opportunities, Ross-on-Wye offers the perfect balance.

About Us

Chaseview Veterinary Clinic has been serving the local community for over 100 years. What began as a practice supporting local farmers has grown into a thriving 11-vet mixed practice delivering high-quality veterinary care across small animal, farm, and equine sectors.

As an independent practice, we have the freedom to invest in our people, facilities, and services to continually improve what we do.

We are proud of our collaborative culture, experienced clinical team, and commitment to providing excellent patient care.

The Role

We are looking for a Veterinary Surgeon with ideally at least one year's experience to join our growing team.

This is a genuinely mixed position, with approximately:

  • 75% Small Animal
  • 25% Farm and Equine

The role offers excellent variety, clinical freedom, and the opportunity to develop your own interests within a supportive environment.

Our in-house out-of-hours service is shared fairly amongst our 11 vets, allowing continuity of care while maintaining a sustainable work-life balance.

Clinical Facilities

We are exceptionally well equipped and actively encourage case work-up and professional development.

Facilities include:

  • Digital radiography
  • Dental radiography
  • Ultrasound
  • Endoscopy
  • Advanced surgical equipment
  • Orthopaedic surgery
  • TTA surgery
  • Laparoscopic surgery
  • Extensive soft tissue surgery
  • Dedicated rehabilitation facilities
  • Hydrotherapy
  • Therapeutic laser therapy
  • Stem cell therapy
  • Stance analyser

For vets with interests in surgery, medicine, rehabilitation, orthopaedics, or advanced diagnostics, there is significant opportunity to develop and expand services.

Farm and Equine Work

Our farm caseload consists primarily of:

  • Beef
  • Sheep
  • Some dairy work
  • Smallholder support including goats, alpacas, donkeys and sheep

We undertake very limited TB testing, allowing more time for rewarding clinical work.

We also maintain a regular equine caseload.

What We're Looking For

You will be:

  • A team player with excellent communication skills
  • Passionate about delivering high-quality patient care
  • Keen to continue developing your clinical skills
  • Looking for a long-term role within a supportive independent practice
  • Interested in genuine mixed practice work

Whether you're already experienced in mixed practice or looking to broaden your skills, we'd love to hear from you.

What We Offer

  • Salary up to £70,000 depending on experience
  • Performance-related bonus
  • 4-day working week
  • Shared out-of-hours rota
  • 6 weeks holiday plus Bank Holidays
  • Generous CPD allowance and support
  • Professional memberships paid
  • Company pension scheme
  • Staff discounts
  • Career progression opportunities
  • Supportive and collaborative team environment
  • Clinical freedom within an independent practice

Interested?

To apply, please send your CV and covering letter.
