Job Role: Senior Infrastructure Engineer
Location: Remote
Rate: £45.00 - £50 per hour Outside IR35
Contract duration: 6 months +
Hours per week: 37.5

About the Role

As a Senior Infrastructure Engineer, you will play a key role in delivering highway and infrastructure schemes from concept through to construction, working closely with multidisciplinary teams, clients and stakeholders to provide innovative and cost-effective engineering solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver highway, active travel and infrastructure design projects through concept, planning, preliminary and detailed design stages.
  • Prepare construction-ready highway and drainage designs that meet relevant safety, quality and compliance standards.
  • Produce detailed drainage designs, profiles and schedules for culverts, channels, manholes and pipe networks.
  • Develop drainage strategies and support the delivery of Sustainable Drainage Systems (SuDS).
  • Guide clients through project feasibility, planning and design stages, ensuring solutions are practical, sustainable and aligned with project objectives.
  • Coordinate designs with internal and external stakeholders to ensure integrated and buildable solutions.
  • Support the preparation of technical reports, drawings, specifications and approval submissions.
  • Assist with obtaining statutory approvals, including Section 278, Section 38 and Section 104 agreements.
  • Contribute to project management activities, including programme delivery, resource planning and budget management.
  • Provide technical support and mentorship to junior engineers and technicians.
  • Undertake site visits, inspections and road safety audits where required.
  • Maintain high standards of health, safety and quality throughout project delivery.

Requirements
Essential

  • Degree qualified in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Experience producing highway and infrastructure design solutions across a variety of development and transportation projects.
  • Proven experience preparing detailed highway and drainage designs through relevant technical approval processes.
  • Experience with Section 278 and Section 38 highway agreements.
  • Awareness of Section 104 and Section 106 water industry agreements.
  • Strong understanding of:

oManual for Streets
oLTN 1/20
oDrainage design guidance
oBuilding Regulations
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and Civil 3D.
  • Experience using InfoDrainage for drainage modelling, network design and SuDS assessments.
  • Ability to manage workload effectively and deliver projects to agreed timescales and budgets.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present technical information clearly to clients and stakeholders.
  • Experience preparing and maintaining technical documentation and design records.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a collaborative team environment.

Desirable

  • Experience using AVT and KeySign/Post software.
  • Experience undertaking road safety audits and inspections.
  • Knowledge of sustainable drainage systems (SuDS), flood risk and environmental design considerations.
  • Membership of CIHT, ICE or another relevant professional institution.
  • Chartered or working towards Chartered status.
