Full job description

Tramping Transport Ltd is looking for reliable van drivers who are comfortable with long-distance routes, night driving and staying away from home between shifts.

This role suits drivers interested in blocks of work away, rather than returning home after every shift. All driving is in company vans suitable for a standard UK driving licence. No HGV licence is required.

The working pattern

We are looking for availability for around two to three days of work per week, depending on bookings.

Examples of available runs may include:

- Leaving on Monday and returning early on Thursday morning.

- Leaving on Thursday and returning on Saturday.

These are examples, not guaranteed schedules. Departure times, expected return times and overnight rest arrangements will be explained before you accept a run. Routes include proper breaks and rest between shifts.

Pay

- £14.00 per hour for driving and other working time, including required loading, unloading, vehicle checks and work-related waiting.

- Paid breaks during a working shift remain at £14.00 per hour.

- £5.00 per hour for agreed, genuine off-duty overnight rest between shifts while away, when you are free from work duties.

- Additional working hours paid at the normal £14.00 rate.

- Monthly PAYE pay on the 1st.

- Paid holiday in addition to the hourly rate.

Your duties

- Complete collections and deliveries safely and professionally.

- Check the vehicle, secure loads and complete delivery records.

- Communicate with the transport team throughout each run.

- Report delays, defects and any concerns about fatigue.

- Take required breaks and follow safe driving and rest arrangements.

Requirements

- Full UK driving licence covering the allocated van.

- Confidence driving loaded vans on longer-distance routes.

- No more than 10 penalty points, subject to insurer approval.

- Reliability, good communication and confidence working independently.

- Willingness to stay away from home for the agreed run.

- Ability to use a smartphone or delivery app.

Company van, fuel and insurance are provided. Shifts are accepted individually, with no guaranteed weekly hours.
