Lead Systems Engineer / Developer

At Hagerty Digital, we’re expanding our Systems & Integrations team to support a major long-term client transformation programme. This is an opportunity to join a growing agency and play a key role in delivering complex, business-critical technology projects.
We’re looking for either a Senior Developer ready to take the next step into a leadership position, or an experienced Lead Developer / Systems Engineer who enjoys taking ownership of technical solutions from design through to delivery.

The Role
You’ll lead the technical delivery of a significant systems transformation programme involving CRM implementation, systems integration, custom middleware development, and, in the near future, a large-scale ERP migration.
Working closely with our internal development team, leadership, and the client, you’ll help define technical architecture, guide a small team of developers, and ensure multiple business systems work seamlessly together.
This is a hands-on technical role with genuine ownership and the opportunity to shape long-term solutions.
We will also be inheriting a Coollogic Android app being built on native Java in the near future as part of this project.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a small systems and software development team
• Design, build and maintain custom middleware and system integrations
• Work extensively with SQL-based databases and business systems
• Integrate CRM, telephony, accounting software and other third-party platforms using APIs
• Support wider full-stack development where required
• Collaborate with stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical solutions
• Help modernise and migrate legacy platforms into a newly managed environment
• Take technical ownership of a future ERP implementation and integration project
• Support Hagerty Digital’s wider development team on selected client projects

About You
We’re looking for someone with a strong technical background who enjoys solving complex integration challenges and can confidently lead technical delivery.

Ideally you’ll have:

• Strong hands-on SQL experience
• A solid full-stack development background
• Experience designing and developing APIs, integrations and middleware
• Experience working with CRM, ERP or other business-critical systems
• The ability to understand, modernise and integrate legacy platforms
• Good knowledge of HTML, CSS, JavaScript and modern web technologies
• Exposure to Magento or other ecommerce platforms (desirable, not essential)
• Previous experience working within an agency or other fast-paced project environment
• The confidence to take technical ownership and support less experienced developers
• Around five years’ commercial development experience

Working Pattern

Pay: £45,000.00-£60,000.00 per year
