Full job description

About the Role:

We’re looking for a Painting and Decorating Technician to join our School of Construction Trades at Ystrad Mynach Campus on a full-time, permanent basis. You’ll support practical teaching and learning, preparing and maintaining tools, equipment and workshop areas to provide a safe, well-organised environment where learners can develop their skills and confidence.

Our Construction Trades team is made up of dedicated people who are passionate about helping learners succeed. We work closely together, share our skills and ideas, and support one another to give our learners the best possible experience. If you enjoy practical work, working with others and making a difference to learners’ futures, you’ll fit right in.

Further information:

All staff employed at Coleg y Cymoedd have a responsibility to safeguard and promote the welfare of learners, and all those working at the College are expected to uphold this commitment. As part of our safer recruitment processes, all new starters must successfully complete the required pre‑employment checks prior to commencing employment. This includes an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check. For roles that involve direct interaction with learners, registration with the Education Workforce Council (EWC) is also a mandatory requirement.

We are a values driven organisation committed to employing a diverse workforce and fostering an inclusive environment where colleagues are respected and supported to be themselves. We treat every individual with dignity, fairness, and respect.

As a Disability Confident Leader, we actively encourage applications from individuals of all backgrounds and communities, particularly in relation to age, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, race, religion and/or belief. We are committed to removing barriers and making our recruitment processes as inclusive and accessible as possible.

We welcome applications in both Welsh and English. Applications submitted in Welsh will not be treated less favourably than those submitted in English. If you are a Welsh speaker or learner, we would be delighted to receive your application.

Roles at Coleg y Cymoedd are campus‑based to support teaching, learner experience and service delivery.

Postholders may request flexible working, including limited remote-working, through the College’s Flexible Working Process (a statutory day‑one right). Requests are considered individually based on role needs and service coverage.

Candidates or employees with accessibility or reasonable-adjustment needs are encouraged to discuss these with the People & Culture team.

All applications must be submitted by 11:59pm on the advertised closing date. Applications received after this deadline may not be considered.
