Full job description

Position: Multi-Trade Painter
Location: Various sites across the North West and surrounding areas

The Multi-Trade Painter is responsible for carrying out a variety of skilled painting and maintenance tasks, including preparation, painting, decorating, repair, and finishing works across residential properties. This role involves working within high-end markets for the UK’s leading developers and retirement companies.

Key Responsibilities and Duties

  • Painting & Decorating: Prepare and paint internal and external surfaces including walls, ceilings, woodwork, doors, skirting boards, and other fixtures to a high-quality finish. Apply paints, stains, varnishes, wallpapers, and decorative finishes in line with project specifications.
  • Surface Preparation: Prepare surfaces prior to decorating by sanding, filling, stripping old paint or wallpaper, cleaning, and priming. Ensure all surfaces are properly prepared to achieve a professional finish.
  • Repairs & Maintenance: Carry out minor repairs to walls, ceilings, plasterwork, and timber surfaces before painting. Complete touch-up work, redecoration, and ongoing maintenance as required.
  • Material Management: Measure and estimate materials required for each project, ensuring minimal waste. Maintain stock levels and ensure tools and materials are kept in good working condition.
  • Health & Safety Compliance: Adhere to all health and safety regulations, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE). Ensure work areas are clean, safe, and tidy at all times.
  • Customer Interaction: Communicate professionally with clients, site managers, and other stakeholders to discuss project requirements, provide updates, and ensure customer satisfaction with completed work.
  • Providing trade expertise within additional trades, offering an efficient, high-quality repairs and maintenance service.
  • Being willing to upskill and develop to enable completion of all types of trade work.
  • Working alongside other tradespeople, providing support and training where apprentices are used.
  • Using hand and electric/machine tools and being prepared to undertake training where required.
  • Driving and being responsible for a company vehicle when required, in accordance with health and safety procedures, Group Fleet Policy, and Drivers Handbook, including conducting weekly vehicle checks.
  • Using and being responsible for a company mobile phone as required by the Group, ensuring it is used responsibly and in accordance with company instructions.
  • Completing all necessary associated work documentation.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Experience: Proven experience as a painter and decorator or in a similar role, with a strong portfolio of completed projects. Experience within maintenance roles is advantageous. The ability to assist in other areas of maintenance and installation schedules will be beneficial.
  • Education: Relevant NVQ or equivalent qualifications in painting and decorating or construction. Valid CSCS card required.

Skills

  • Proficient in the use of painting and decorating tools and equipment.
  • Strong attention to detail and high-quality finishing standards.
  • Experience in maintenance within construction projects.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.

You Will Receive

  • Salary in the region of £32,000 – £37,000 per annum (negotiable depending on experience and qualifications)
  • Permanent contract working Monday to Friday, 8:00am – 4:30pm, with flexibility required to meet business and customer needs, including occasional evening/weekend work
  • 28 days annual leave
