About Us

At A Star Decorators Ltd, we pride ourselves on delivering high-quality painting and decorating services. We are currently expanding our team and are looking for a skilled, reliable, and detail-oriented Painter to join us on a permanent PAYE basis. If you have a strong background in retail projects and are comfortable working away from home, we want to hear from you.

The Role

As a core member of our decorating team, you will be working on a variety of commercial projects with a strong focus on the retail sector. Please note: This role primarily involves night shifts and working away from home. Because this is a PAYE position, you will enjoy the stability of guaranteed work, along with excellent earning potential through overtime and performance bonuses, while moving away from the unpredictability of day-rate subcontracting. All accommodation when working away is fully provided and organized by the company.

Key Responsibilities

  • Executing high-quality painting and decorating work on commercial and retail sites during night shifts.
  • Traveling to various site locations and working away from home for the duration of projects.
  • Preparing surfaces thoroughly (cleaning, sanding, filling, etc.) to ensure a flawless finish.
  • Safely operating powered access equipment (scissor lifts/cherry pickers) for high-level work.
  • Adhering strictly to on-site health and safety regulations.
  • Working efficiently to meet strict project deadlines with minimal disruption to retail environments.

Essential Requirements

To be considered for this role, you must have:

  • Experience: A minimum of 4 years of professional painting experience.
  • Sector Knowledge: Proven experience working on retail painting projects.
  • Flexibility: Willingness to work mainly nights and travel/stay away from home.
  • Certifications:
  • Valid CSCS Card.
  • Valid IPAF Card.
  • Current Manual Handling Certificate.
  • Current Asbestos Awareness Certificate.
  • Work Ethic: Reliable, punctual, and capable of working both independently and as part of a team.

Bonus Points (Desirable)

  • Experience with paint spraying is highly advantageous and will be considered a strong bonus.

What We Offer

  • Base Salary: £34,000 gross per year.
  • Overtime: Time-and-a-half (1.5x) rate for all work completed on Saturdays and Sundays.
  • Bonuses: Performance-based bonuses available to reward hard work and efficiency.
  • Accommodation: Fully provided and paid for by the company when working away.
  • Job Security: Full PAYE employment (includes statutory holiday pay, sick pay, and workplace pension).

Pay: £23.00 per hour
