Overview

- An exciting role either working within or managing a small custom paint shop specialising in bespoke plant and commercial refinishing.
- Based in our Kendal workshops, this role involves the preparation, painting and finishing of part and complete machines, vehicles and various production and bespoke components to meet both our in-house demands and those of our customers.
- The ideal candidate will have acute attention to detail, be experienced in a range of painting methods and paint types including gloss variations, metallics and laquers, be able to follow instructions with great accuracy and have excellent housekeeping skills.
- This role involves all aspects of refinishing work, from initial preparation through to final presentation.
- This role additionally involves the general upkeep of the painting area, stock management of paints and consumables and the cordination of items and machinery in and out of the painting area.
- Experience with signwriting or vinyl application, polish-finishing and valeting methods would be advantageous but not necessary as training can be given.

- An appetite for custom work, one-offs and bespoke finishes to suit individual customers needs is desired.

Responsibilities
- Prepare surfaces for painting by cleaning, sanding, and filling holes or cracks.
- Apply paint, laquers, or other finishes using spray equipment or other necassary tools.
- Ensure that all work is completed to a high standard and in accordance with project specifications.
- Maintain tools and equipment in good working order and report any issues as necessary.
- Communicate effectively with clients and team members regarding project progress and any concerns.
- Follow safety protocols and maintain a clean working environment at all times.

Experience
- Proven experience in commercial vehicle or plant machinery painting preferred.
- Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
- Strong attention to detail with an artistic eye for colour matching and finishing techniques.
- Ability to work independently while also being a team player who collaborates well with others.

This role has the potential for progression to management with profit share and share ownership.

Candidates may have previous experience running a painting business/as a self employed spray painter or may suit those at the top of their game and looking to make the next step to running a business.
