As part of our continued growth, we are looking to recruit an experienced Panel beater/Painter to join our team based at our Herts Depot.
Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Panel Beater / Painter to join our team, specializing in the repair and maintenance of plant hire equipment. The ideal candidate will have a strong mechanical background and experience working with heavy machinery. In this role, you will be responsible for restoring damaged panels on plant hire equipment. Your work will ensure that all equipment is restored to its original condition and meets industry standards for safety, functionality, and performance.
Responsibilities
- Assess and evaluate damaged panels on plant hire equipment to determine the necessary repair procedures.
- Use hand tools, power tools, and welding equipment to repair or replace damaged panels.
- Straighten, fill, and finish panels to restore the plant hire equipment to its original appearance.
- Conduct welding ( MIG ) and bonding work as required to repair panels.
- Repair rusted or corroded areas of plant equipment.
- Replace panels or parts that cannot be repaired.
- Assist in removing and reassembling parts of plant machinery as required during repairs.
- Ensure all work complies with health and safety regulations and industry standards.
- Conduct quality checks on all repaired equipment to ensure repairs are complete and meet high-quality standards.
- Maintain a clean, organized work environment, and ensure proper storage of tools and equipment.
- Communicate with the team and management regarding the progress of repairs and any issues that arise.
- Provide support for the delivery and collection of repaired equipment.
- Prepare equipment to be painted.
- Paint the equipment to high standards.
Skills and Qualifications
- Proficient in using hand tools, power tools, and welding equipment relevant to panel beating and painting.
- Strong mechanical knowledge and experience working with plant hire equipment.
- Ability to interpret technical documents and schematics for plant hire equipment.
- Experience in repairing body panels, welding, and straightening damaged parts.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting and manoeuvre large parts safely.
- Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication skills, especially in dealing with team members and customers.
- Experience in repairing and maintaining construction or industrial machinery is advantageous.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- A valid driver’s license is required.
- Previous experience in panel beating/painting or plant hire equipment repairs (preferred).
Working Hours & Benefits
- Hours: 45 hours per week, Monday to Friday.
- Overtime and occasional Saturday work will be required based on operational needs.
- Salary: £45,000 per annum.
