Experienced Paralegal / Immigration Caseworker

About Us

Rayan Adams Solicitors Ltd (SRA No. 810571) is a busy and reputable immigration law firm based in Manchester. We deal with a wide range of immigration, asylum, human rights, and appeal matters.

Due to continued growth, we are looking to recruit an experienced Immigration Paralegal / Caseworker to join our team.

The Role

Working under the supervision of our solicitors, the successful candidate will assist in managing a busy caseload of asylum and immigration matters from initial instruction through to appeal hearings.

Key Responsibilities (all carried out under supervision)

  • Assisting with the management of asylum and immigration files
  • Drafting detailed Witness Statements for clients under supervision
  • Drafting and preparing Skeleton Arguments for appeal hearings under supervision
  • Compiling, paginating and indexing Appeal Bundles in accordance with Tribunal directions and Practice Directions
  • Corresponding with the Home Office, First-tier Tribunal, counsel and other relevant parties
  • Conducting client interviews and taking detailed instructions
  • Preparing cases for hearings before the First-tier Tribunal (Immigration and Asylum Chamber)
  • Ensuring strict compliance with procedural rules, time limits and Tribunal deadlines

Essential Requirements

  • Demonstrable experience working on asylum appeals
  • Proven ability to draft Witness Statements and Skeleton Arguments under supervision
  • Experience preparing Appeal Bundles in compliance with Tribunal requirements
  • Sound working knowledge of UK immigration and asylum law and procedure
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage a busy caseload with competing deadlines
  • Proficiency with case management systems and MS Office
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team

Essential

· LLB/GDL qualification

Desirable

  • LPC, BTC (Bar Training Course) or equivalent legal qualification
  • Law Society Immigration and Asylum Accreditation Scheme (IAAS) accreditation at Caseworker or Senior Caseworker level (an advantage, but not essential)
  • Experience handling matters before the First-tier Tribunal (IAC)
  • Additional community language skills, such as Arabic, Farsi, Pashto, Urdu, or Kurdish (but not essential)
