Full job description

Leicestershire | £30–£40 per hour | Flexible locum shifts

Please read the essential criteria before applying. This role requires a recognised Level 6+ minor illness / clinical assessment qualification and proven autonomous telephone triage experience. If you don't yet hold both, this particular role won't be the right fit.

We're recruiting experienced Clinical Advisors (Nurses and Paramedics) for a well-established, NHS-commissioned Integrated Urgent Care (111 Clinical Assessment Service) in Leicestershire. You'll deliver autonomous telephone-based clinical assessment for patients referred from NHS 111, EMAS, other healthcare professionals and community hospitals — deciding the right outcome for each patient's care.

Essential criteria — please only apply if you meet ALL of these

  • Registered Nurse (NMC) or Paramedic (HCPC), with no restrictions to practice
  • A recognised minor illness / clinical assessment & decision-making qualification at Level 6 or above (please state which qualification you hold and its level)
  • Proven autonomous telephone triage / remote consultation experience — face-to-face urgent care experience on its own is not sufficient for this role
  • Recent experience in an urgent care setting (ED, WIC, UTC, first responder or similar) as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Experience supplying medicines under Patient Group Directions (PGDs)

You do not need to be an independent prescriber — prescribing support is available on site.

The role

  • Assess patients over the phone following referral from 111, EMAS, other HCPs and community hospitals
  • Provide treatment, self-care advice, appointment booking, ambulance dispatch or onward referral as clinically appropriate
  • Document consultations on the Adastra system, in line with the RCGP UEC clinical audit tool
  • Work autonomously within a supportive multidisciplinary team

Rate & shifts

  • £30–£40 per hour depending on shift, with enhanced rates for nights, weekends and bank holidays
  • Flexible locum shifts across days, evenings, nights and weekends — weekly pay

How to apply

To be progressed quickly, please make sure your CV or application clearly evidences:

  • Your minor illness / clinical assessment qualification and its level (must be Level 6 or above)
  • Your autonomous telephone triage / consultation experience — where, how long, and which systems you've used

You will be contacted within 24hours if shortlisted.

Pay: £35.00-£40.00 per hour

Work Location: In person
