Job Summary
We are seeking a friendly and professional Food and Beverage Assistant to deliver an excellent food and drink service across all front-of-house areas including the restaurant, grill, bar, conference rooms, and events. This is a hands-on, guest-facing role that helps ensure smooth service, high standards, and a warm, welcoming atmosphere. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering excellent service to guests, assisting with food and beverage preparation, and ensuring a welcoming atmosphere. This role offers an exciting opportunity to develop skills within the hospitality industry, including catering, serving, and food safety standards.

Responsibilities

  • Welcome, seat, and serve guests in a friendly, professional, and timely manner.
  • Present menus, take orders clearly, and communicate them effectively to the kitchen and bar, prepare and serve afternoon teas.
  • Support the daily operations across the restaurant, bar, events, and conference services.
  • Set up, clear, and reset tables throughout service.
  • Ensure service areas are clean, stocked, and well-presented at all times.
  • Prepare for service by understanding bookings, special events, and guest needs.
  • Respond to guest queries or complaints calmly and efficiently, escalating when needed.
  • Maintain compliance with hygiene, licensing, and health & safety regulations.
  • Follow appearance standards including correct uniform and grooming at all times.
  • Promote the hotel and its services with pride and professionalism.
  • Support colleagues and work as part of a team to deliver consistent service.
  • Assist with food preparation and presentation as required
  • Maintain cleanliness of dining areas, counters, and service stations
  • Provide information about menu items and make recommendations to guests
  • Restock supplies and ensure all areas are well-organised throughout shifts
  • Collaborate with team members to deliver seamless service during busy periods

Experience

  • Previous experience of customer facing roles in a hospitality environment - ideally in luxury, Country House Hotel and/or fine dining establishments
  • Strong orientation to provide high levels of guest excellence and customer service
  • Knowledge of Food Safety Awareness, COSHH and Allergy/Intolerance Management
  • Working knowledge of food preparation and presentation protocols
  • Knowledge of Still Room/Food storage standards
  • Ability to undertake Bar Steward duties where required
  • Barista experience is advantageous but full training can be provided
