Full job description

We're looking for enthusiastic and knowledgeable Plant Area Assistants to join our busy and friendly team at Folkestone Garden Centre on a full or part time basis.

This is a hands-on role within our plant area, helping customers find the right plants for their gardens while ensuring our plant displays remain healthy, attractive and well-maintained.

Plant knowledge and husbandry experience are essential. Previous garden centre or horticultural retail experience is preferred.

Please note this role is physically demanding and involves working outdoors throughout the year in all weather conditions. Weekend and Bank Holiday working will be required

Key Responsibilities:

  • Providing expert advice and excellent customer service
  • Maintaining high standards of plant care, including watering, feeding and stock maintenance
  • Monitoring plant health and presentation standards
  • Creating attractive and inspirational plant displays
  • Assisting with stock replenishment and merchandising
  • Maintaining a clean, tidy and safe plant area
  • Supporting the wider team with day-to-day garden centre operations

What We're Looking For:

  • Strong plant knowledge and practical plant care experience
  • A passion for horticulture and gardening
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • A positive, reliable and hardworking attitude
  • Good attention to detail and high standards of presentation
  • Previous garden retail experience is desirable
