Part-Time Bookkeeper Wanted — Be the Numbers Person Who Actually Gets Heard

Bradford, West Yorkshire | £16.00 per hour | 16 hours a week | Flexible scheduling

Fancy owning the finances, not just filing them?

We're a Bradford business on the lookout for a sharp, detail-loving bookkeeper to take real ownership of our day-to-day finances — and to turn the numbers into insight the whole team can actually use.

This isn't a back-office box-ticking role. You'll have genuine autonomy over how the books are run, direct input into how we understand our own performance, and a team that actually reads your reports and acts on them. If you like your accounts tidy, your VAT returns on time, and your management commentary sharp enough that non-finance people finally get it — this is your kind of role.

What you'll be doing

  • Keeping our books accurate and up to date in Xero, day in, day out
  • Processing sales and purchase invoices, and reconciling bank accounts and credit cards
  • Producing monthly management accounts — P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow summary
  • Writing clear commentary and variance analysis that helps us make better decisions
  • Managing VAT returns and submissions to HMRC
  • Supporting year-end and liaising with our external accountants
  • Spotting anomalies and flagging financial risks before they become problems

What you'll bring

  • Solid experience in bookkeeping or management accounts
  • Confidence working day-to-day in Xero (certification is a nice-to-have)
  • A track record of producing and presenting management reports independently
  • Sharp attention to detail and genuinely high standards of accuracy
  • The ability to translate numbers into plain English for non-finance colleagues
  • AAT qualification or equivalent (desirable, not essential)
  • Self-motivation and comfort working with minimal supervision
