Professional part time Carer/Nurse for elderly lady living with family at home

Job overview

A private family is seeking a professional warm, kind and emotionally supportive visiting carer/nurse for an 83-year-old lady with dementia. The role offers an opportunity to provide compassionate personal care and meaningful companionship, including assistance with daily activities of living, as well as engaging in stimulating activities such as crosswords, reading, bible study and conversation. This is a permanent, part-time position working 15.5 hours per week, possibly more by negotiation, on a self-employed basis.

Key responsibilities

The carer will visit the client's home and undertake the following:

· Provide friendly companionship.

· Organise and participate in mind-stimulating activities such as crosswords

· Engage in interesting conversation

· Read books and bible passages aloud

· Assistance with washing and dressing and personal care

· Support with toileting needs

About the client

Age: 83

Medical conditions: Dementia

The client is looking for someone who can provide reassurance, help them feel safe and understood, and engage them in meaningful activities. A carer with a Christian faith may be particularly suited to this role, though not essential.

Work environment

The client's home is smoke-free and pet-free.

Working pattern

15.5 hours per week, with the following indicative times (flexible by arrangement):

· Monday 11am to 3pm (4 hours)

· Wednesday 830 am to 1230 (4 hours)

· Saturday 830am to 1230 (4 hours)

· Sunday 1030 am to 1230 (3.5 hours)

· Additional hours during the week by mutual arrangement

Requirements

Qualifications:

· Care Certificate

· Nursing qualification (desirable)

Language: Fluent English (required)
Enhanced DBS

Possibly a lady who may have undergone nursing training who wishes to work more flexibly in a home environment. An emotionally intelligent and compassionate carer who is excellent at building trust, providing reassurance and helping people feel safe and understood.
