Full job description

Love great food, friendly service and working as part of a supportive team? We're looking for a Coffee Shop Assistant to join our busy team, helping to create a welcoming experience for every customer who visits.

Whether you're serving freshly prepared food, making drinks or keeping the coffee shop looking its best, you'll play an important role in ensuring our customers enjoy every visit.

Working Pattern:

  • Alternate weekends (Saturday and Sunday) 10:00am – 3:00pm.
  • Additional hours may be available to cover holidays and busy periods.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide friendly, efficient customer service with a smile.
  • Take customer orders and serve food and drinks.
  • Prepare hot and cold beverages.
  • Assist with basic food preparation and presentation.
  • Operate the till and handle payments accurately.
  • Clear and clean tables, keeping the coffee shop tidy and welcoming.
  • Wash up and assist with general kitchen cleaning duties.
  • Follow food hygiene and health & safety procedures at all times.
  • Replenish stock and help maintain attractive food and drink displays.
  • Work closely with colleagues to ensure smooth day-to-day operations.

What You'll Need:

  • A positive, friendly attitude and a genuine passion for customer service.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work well as part of a team.
  • The ability to stay calm and organised during busy periods.
  • A willingness to learn and take on a variety of tasks.
  • To be 16 years of age or over.
  • To be able to travel reliably to our Broomhill Garden Centre without relying on public transport, due to our rural location.

Nice to Have:

  • Previous experience working in a café, coffee shop, restaurant or other hospitality environment.
  • Experience using a till or handling cash.
