Full job description

Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Area Manager to oversee our Tuition Centres on a part-time basis. The successful candidate will be responsible for supervising daily operations, supporting centre staff, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality educational services.

The role

This is a hands-on, on-the-ground leadership role. You will rotate across our centres, raising and protecting the quality of everything families experience and you will own customer retention: keeping families enrolled, winning back those who are looking to leave, and training our centre supervisors to do the same. You will be the vital link between head office and our centres. We are starting this position part-time to get the model right, with a genuine path to full-time as the network grows.

What you will do

Quality & standards

  • Visit our centres on a regular rotation, assessing teaching quality, the learning environment, customer experience and safeguarding compliance.
  • Hold a consistently high standard across every centre, and turn each visit into clear, actionable improvements; followed through to completion.

Retention & parent relationships

  • Own customer retention: handle retention and “save” customers, and meet families considering leaving; in person at the centre to understand their needs and keep them with the company.
  • Run win-back outreach to lapsed families, and build genuine relationships with parents so they feel valued and supported.

Coaching & development

  • Coach, develop and support our centre supervisors; raising their skills in sales conversion, retention and day-to-day management; not just inspecting, but building capability.
  • Help embed standardised onboarding, training and best practice across all sites.

Performance & compliance

  • Drive assessment-to-enrolment conversion in partnership with each supervisor.
  • Track and report centre performance ; conversion, retention and quality to senior management, and act on the data.
  • Champion child safeguarding and Ofsted compliance at every centre, at all times.

What we are looking for

Essential

  • Proven experience managing people and/or multiple sites - for example in education, retail, hospitality, customer success or operations.
  • Outstanding communication and relationship-building, with a natural instinct for sales and retention; you can turn a hesitant or unhappy parent into a long-term customer.
  • Mature, confident judgment and common sense; able to hold high standards while coaching and motivating a young team.
  • Comfortable with numbers and reporting; you use data to find problems and prove progress.
  • Able to travel across our London centres (most are on the Elizabeth line) and to work flexibly, including Saturdays and some Sundays.
  • A genuine commitment to child safeguarding. The role requires an enhanced DBS check and satisfactory references.

Desirable

  • Experience in education, tuition or a children’s service; familiarity with 11+ and GCSE.

What we offer

  • Competitive pay, depending on experience.
  • A real path from part-time to a full-time leadership position as the network grows
  • A company work phone and the tools to do the job well.
  • A genuinely impactful role in a respected, 17-year, Ofsted-registered education group with an ambitious growth plan.
  • The chance to shape how a multi-site tuition group delivers quality and keeps families; your work will be visible in the results.

Practical details

  • Location: Rotating across our London centres — currently Ilford, Stratford, Walthamstow, Ealing, Southall and Slough, with further new centres opening in summer 2026 .
  • Hours: Part-time to start (approx. 5 days per week), including Saturdays, with a clear route to full-time subject to performence.
  • Pay: £15–£18 per hour, depending on experience (to be confirmed).
  • Safeguarding: Enhanced DBS, references and safer-recruitment checks required before starting.

Pay: £15.00-£18.00 per hour

Work Location: In person
