Full job description

Hours: Weekends only, 7:30am - 3:00pm

What we're looking for:

We're a small, family-feel care home where every meal matters. We partner with Apetito for main meal prep, but we need someone with proper cooking experience who can turn those meals into something special - beautiful presentation, perfect gravies and custards, food served at just the right temperature.

This isn't just reheating - it takes real food IQ to make every plate look restaurant-quality before it reaches our residents.

You'll need:

  • Hands-on cooking/catering experience (even if learned at home)
  • Confidence plating and presenting food to a high standard
  • Know-how with gravies, sauces, custards, and accompaniments
  • Baking skills - we want fresh cakes, scones, birthday treats, and ideally fresh bread too
  • Pride in every plate that goes out
  • Warm personality and team player attitude

What you'll be doing:

  • Plating Apetito meals to restaurant standards with proper presentation
  • Making gravies, custards, sauces from scratch
  • Fresh baking for afternoon tea and special occasions (this is a big part of the role!)
  • Simple breakfasts when our head cook is away (eggs, bacon, toast)
  • Serving meals, setting up and clearing away
  • Keeping the kitchen spotless and following health & safety procedures

Because Apetito handles the heavy lifting, you'll actually have time for proper plating and plenty of baking - this isn't a frantic commercial kitchen.
