Support Worker – Acquired Brain Injury

Part-time evening position | 17.5 hours per week

Working Hours

• 17.5 hours per week
• Monday to Friday, 4.00 pm–7.30 pm
• Flexibility to provide weekend cover during colleagues’ annual leave or sickness is required

About the Role

We are looking for a motivated, enthusiastic and dependable Support Worker to join an established care team supporting a 38-year-old woman with an acquired brain injury. You will provide practical assistance with day-to-day tasks, personal care and her evening routine, while also offering companionship and support.

Our client has a great sense of humour and enjoys quiz shows, makeup, hair and beauty, and spending time with her support team. She also has a dog, so applicants must be comfortable working in a home with a pet.

The role includes supporting the client with her night-time routine and is delivered on a two-to-one basis. Full training will be provided. The client receives 24-hour support from her family and care team, and the successful applicant will become a valued addition to that team.

Key Responsibilities

• Build and maintain a trusting, professional and supportive relationship with the client, her family, the Case Manager and other members of the care team.
• Follow the agreed support programme, care plans, risk assessments and professional guidance.
• Promote the client’s safety, dignity, independence, privacy and wellbeing, and contribute to safeguarding.
• Complete accurate daily records, care plan summaries, incident reports as required.
• Report any concerns regarding the client’s physical or psychological health promptly to the family or Case Manager, as appropriate.
• Attend supervision sessions, team meetings, training and other meetings arranged by the employer.
• Maintain strict confidentiality in relation to the client and her family.

Personal Care and Health Support

• Assist with personal care, including showering or bathing, toileting, dressing and other identified care needs.
• Support toileting needs under professional direction and with appropriate training and supervision.
• Use specialist equipment, including hoists and wheelchairs, following training and agreed procedures.
• Monitor the client’s health and wellbeing and report concerns appropriately.

Household Support

• Prepare and assist snacks and drinks.
• Carry out domestic tasks connected with the client’s care
• Help maintain a safe, clean and comfortable home environment.

Community, Leisure and Transport

• Support the client to access should she wish any activities that reflect her interests, support programme, and risk assessments.
• Where required, transport the client in her adapted vehicle, subject to assessment and insurance.

Rehabilitation and Therapy

• Support and carry out rehabilitation activities as directed by the client’s treating professionals.
• Share relevant observations with the wider team in line with agreed procedures.

• Driving licence preferred

Pay: £13.64 per hour
