Full job description

A development opportunity has arisen for a part time Health Promotion Outreach Worker within the Surrey Sexual Health Outreach Team whose role is to extend the provision of sexual health services into the wider communities.

This is a development post for a Sexual Health Promotion Outreach Worker. The post holder will follow an individual training programme to develop their sexual health promotion knowledge from Band 4 Sexual Health Promotion Outreach Worker to Band 5 Sexual Health Promotion Outreach Worker through practical, real time, on the job experience training.

The health promotion model has been developed in conjunction with Public Health to ensure it targets Surrey communities and populations most at risk of sexual ill health including young people under 25, Black and minority ethnic communities, Sex workers, Men who have sex with men including ChemSex, People with disabilities and transgender communities.

We’re passionate about delivering first-class patient-centred, safe and effective care, whether it is in a hospital setting, in a community clinic or in the patient’s own home. Patients are at the heart of everything we do. Providing top quality care depends on our ability to employ the best people.

With a diverse culture and equally diverse range of opportunities across mental health, community services, addictions, eating disorders, learning disabilities and more – whatever stage of your career you're at, there's always a place for you.

The post holder will be responsible for delivering health promotion, outreach services, Surrey Chlamydia and Gonorrhoea screening programme and Condom Distribution Service for under 25s. This post is permanent, based in Woking and providing outreach services across Surrey.

The service operates in partnership with other commissioned community sexual health support in Pharmacies, General Practice and the Third Sector and complements clinic based work. The post holder would provide training sessions to groups of staff and other professionals and awareness raising sessions to young people.

Candidates should have experience in Health Promotion and or Sexual Health Services. The post holder would work regular hours with flexibility to work very occasional evenings and weekends (to cover specific events).

Please ensure you have the appropriate skills and experience as described in the Job Description prior to application or your application will not be shortlisted.

The post holder will be expected to travel across the County of Surrey as part of their work.

Please note: This vacancy does not meet the criteria for Skilled Worker sponsorship, unless you meet the criteria by temporary exemption from current changes to immigration rules put in force on 22/07/2025. “Separate provisions are applied to workers who have been sponsored and continuously held a Skilled Worker visa since prior to 04/04/2024."

As such, if you don’t meet the Transitional Provision (above) we are unable to consider your application unless you can provide documentary evidence of your right to work in the United Kingdom. If you believe you are eligible for sponsorship or already hold a valid right to work in the UK, please ensure you provide full details of your immigration status in the Pre-Screening Immigration section of your application form.

Please note role eligibility also depends on whether the role meets the salary threshold for the relevant occupational code (SOC CODE).
