Are you a skilled and experienced handyman looking for part-time work?

If so, we are looking for a reliable handyman to join our team at Bedfordshire Supported Housing. This role will require working indoors, in small houses, and in the community.
Key Responsibilities
  • Carry out day‑to‑day repairs including hoovers, leaking taps, light bulbs, toilet seats and general household items.
  • Complete minor carpentry, plumbing and electrical tasks.
  • Support landscaping and grounds maintenance.
  • Undertake small maintenance tasks on central heating and boiler systems.
  • Perform weekly fire alarm tests and record results.
  • Check fire exits, call points, emergency lighting and door retaining devices in line with company procedures.
  • Ensure all portable appliances are tested (PAT) and maintain accurate records.
  • Maintain the site “Maintenance Book” and follow a planned repairs schedule.
  • Assist with preparing accommodation for new or changing service users.
  • Ensure service users’ environments and personal equipment are safe and well‑maintained.
  • Support the care team with errands and occasional support‑worker duties when required.
  • Carry out driving and delivery duties as needed.
  • Work flexibly across all services, including domiciliary care.
  • Contribute content for digital and social media platforms as part of core organisational duties.
About You:
  • Practical, hands‑on and confident with general repairs.
  • Able to work independently and manage your own workload.
  • Good communication skills and a positive, helpful attitude.
  • Experience in maintenance, building services or a similar role is desirable.
