Arthur Rai Medical Services Ltd is seeking an experienced and dedicated Bookkeeper / Finance person to join our team on a self-employed permanent placement, 2 days per week, WORKING FROM HOME.

We are a specialist healthcare recruitment agency, placing medical and nursing professionals across a range of healthcare settings. We are looking for a proactive, detail-oriented finance professional who can take ownership of the company's financial operations and contribute to the continued success and growth of the business.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a well-established and supportive organisation, where you will play a key role in managing the company's accounting functions and ensuring the smooth running of all financial processes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Processing weekly payroll for agency nurses and monthly payroll for permanent staff.
  • Managing day-to-day financial operations, including payroll, invoicing, and financial transactions
  • Preparing and submitting PAYE and VAT returns
  • Managing invoicing and credit control activities
  • Administering invoice financing facilities and performing reconciliations
  • Producing management accounts and financial reports
  • Liaising with the company's accountants to support the preparation of annual accounts
  • Completing HMRC reporting requirements
  • Processing supplier invoices and payments
  • Performing bank reconciliations
  • Posting general ledger, debtor, and creditor journals
  • Monitoring and chasing outstanding debtor payments
  • Processing timesheets accurately and efficiently
  • Managing financial records, documentation, and filing systems
  • Responding to general and specific finance-related enquiries
  • Supporting the administration of invoice discounting facilities

Essential Requirements

  • Proven experience using Sage Payroll and Sage Accounts
  • Experience preparing Management Accounts
  • Strong knowledge of payroll, bookkeeping, and financial reporting processes
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel
  • Excellent organisational skills with strong attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Professional, reliable, and adaptable approach to work
  • Experience within a recruitment or healthcare environment would be advantageous

About You

The successful candidate will be a confident and self-motivated finance professional with excellent communication skills and a strong sense of accountability. You will be comfortable working independently while also contributing positively as part of a small and friendly team. In addition to your booking keeping responsibilities, you will be also required to assist with general administrative duties and agency worker payroll during busy periods.

Working Hours

  • Part-time: 2 days per week (Tuesdays and Wednesdays)
  • Hours: 9:00am – 5:00pm
  • Flexibility is required to meet business needs
  • Work from home

Start Date

August 2026

Pay: £30.00 per hour
