Are you passionate about supporting families, empowering parents and helping children and young people thrive?

CHEXS is looking for a compassionate, enthusiastic, motivated and experienced Family Support Worker (Specialism Parenting) to join our dedicated team.

This is a rewarding opportunity to work directly with families, providing practical support, building positive relationships and helping parents and carers develop the confidence and skills to overcome challenges.

About the Role

  • Position: Family Support Worker (Specialism Parenting)
  • Salary: Starting salary of £29,230 per annum, plus a 6% employer pension contribution
  • Hours: 37.5 hours per week, typically Monday to Friday, 8:30am–4:30pm. Alternative arrangements, including term-time working plus additional weeks, may be considered for the right candidate, subject to service needs
  • Contract: Permanent
  • Start Date: Immediate start available, although this is not essential

What You’ll Be Doing

As a Family Support Worker, you will work alongside parents, carers and families, providing practical, relationship-based and strengths-focused support through one-to-one sessions and group activities.

Working closely with our Family Support Lead, partner schools and community organisations, you will help families overcome challenges, strengthen relationships and access the support they need.

No two days are the same at CHEXS!

Your week could include:

  • Building positive relationships with parents and carers at school gates and within the community.
  • Providing one-to-one family support in schools and community settings.
  • Working alongside school pastoral teams to identify needs and provide early help.
  • Planning and delivering parenting workshops, peer support sessions and family activities.
  • Supporting families to develop confidence, resilience and positive parenting strategies.
  • Completing case records, planning sessions and following up with families.

The role involves working across our partner schools and community venues, with opportunities for some home working by agreement with your line manager.

Occasional evening and weekend work may be required to support family activities and community events, with time off in lieu provided.

Who We’re Looking For

We’re looking for someone who is approachable, empathetic, organised and passionate about making a positive difference.

You will enjoy working with people, building trusted relationships and supporting families from a wide range of backgrounds.

You will need to be adaptable, confident working independently and as part of a team, and committed to safeguarding and promoting the wellbeing of children and families.
