About the role
Are you looking for a meaningful and rewarding role where you can truly make a difference to people’s lives?
And exciting opportunity has arisen for dedicated individuals to join the Isle of Man Ambulance Non-Emergency Patient Transport Service (NEPTS) as Patient Transport Service Operatives. In this essential role, you will provide safe and reliable transport for patients and service users across the Isle of Man, ensuring they reach treatment centres and other destinations with exceptional care and support. Your responsibilities will involve assisting individuals with varying needs, prioritising their comfort and safety at all times.
This includes manual handling, navigating stairs, and securing essential equipment like wheelchairs and stretchers during transit. Some patients may need assistance being carried (including up or down stairs), transported in a wheelchair or stretcher and safely escorted to and from the vehicle. You’ll drive a variety of vehicles, including equipped NEPTS ambulances and wheelchair-accessible vehicles, delivering non-urgent, planned patient journeys. Whether working independently or as part of a supportive crew, you will play a key role in ensuring a seamless and caring transport experience.
No formal qualifications are necessary for this role - we’ll provide all the training you need! The only requirement is a full, valid manual driving licence.
If you’re compassionate, reliable and ready to play a vital role in someone’s journey, we’d love to hear from you
Please note, this role will involve working day shifts, including Saturdays which will be on a rota basis. Part-time hours may also be considered.
A workplace that invests in you
A competitive salary that increases each 12 months until you reach the salary maximum.
A generous annual leave entitlement starting at 27 days and 10 Public Holidays.
Subject to meeting eligibility criteria, the IOM Public Service offers two pension arrangements: the Isle of Man Government Unified Scheme 2011 or the Isle of Man Government Defined Contribution (DC) Arrangement.
You may be eligible for a Blue Light Card, unlocking a wide range of exclusive discounts on shopping, food and leisure activities at hundreds of popular high street and online retailers.
Access to the staff canteen at Noble’s Hospital where you can purchase affordable food and drinks in your breaks.
Free on-site car parking.
Our on-site education and training centre, Keyll Darree, comprises a lecture theatre, well stocked medical library, training facilities and a state-of-the-art simulation lab which is operated by trained simulation practitioners.
Ability to apply for an unpaid career break after 3 years’ service.
Access to the Isle of Man Public Service Cycle to Work scheme after your first year of employment.
Access to the Learning, Education and Development training facility, which is exclusively for Public Service employees, to keep on top of your continuous professional development.
Free access to the Isle of Man Government Staff Welfare Service which offers professional counselling, emotional support and signposting on a wide range of issues.
