Job Description

We are currently recruiting Secure / Out of Area - Patient Transport to join our professional transport team, delivering safe, compassionate, and dignified care to vulnerable patients across the UK.

This role involves transporting patients who may require enhanced supervision, secure handling, or long-distance transfers, including out-of-area NHS movements. You will play a vital role in ensuring patient safety, comfort, and wellbeing at all times.

Key Responsibilities

  • Safely transport patients to and from hospitals, secure units, mental health facilities, and specialist centres
  • Manage secure and out-of-area patient journeys, sometimes over long distances
  • Provide calm, respectful, and professional support to patients who may be distressed or vulnerable
  • Work as part of a two / three-person crew, following agreed care and risk management plans
  • Accurately complete documentation and journey records
  • Carry out vehicle checks and maintain cleanliness and infection control standards
  • Communicate effectively with NHS staff, control rooms, and clinical teams
  • De-escalate challenging behaviour using approved techniques where required
  • Maintain confidentiality and uphold safeguarding responsibilities

Essential Requirements

  • Full UK Driving Licence (minimum 2 years held)
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure and handle challenging situations professionally
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Good level of physical fitness
  • Willingness to work long-distance and out-of-area shifts, including early starts, nights, and weekends
  • Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to undergo one)
