Job Vacancy: Payroll Assistant

Location: Airdrie

Salary: £27,000 – £30,000 per annum

Contract: Full Time

The Role

We are seeking a dedicated and organised Payroll Assistant to join our finance department. This role is essential for maintaining the smooth operation of our staff pay cycles. You will work closely with colleagues to ensure accuracy and provide a high level of service to our dedicated team of educators and care professionals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborative Processing: Lead payroll processing to ensure seamless monthly operations.
  • Data Management: Accurately collate and process timesheets and payroll data, ensuring all hours and adjustments are captured correctly.
  • Reporting & Deadlines: Assist with payroll reporting and ensure all internal and statutory deadlines are consistently met.
  • Staff Support: Act as the first point of contact for all payroll-related queries, providing clear and helpful information to staff.
  • Compliance: Maintain up-to-date knowledge of PAYE, National Insurance, and Scottish tax codes.
  • Record Keeping: Manage sensitive employee data with total confidentiality and in line with GDPR requirements.

What We’re Looking For

  • Experience: Proven experience in a payroll or finance-support role.
  • Technical Accuracy: Strong numerical skills and the ability to process high volumes of data without errors.
  • Communication: A friendly, professional manner when dealing with staff questions.
  • Organisational Skills: The ability to prioritise tasks and remain calm under the pressure of payroll deadlines.
  • Systems Knowledge: Proficiency in Excel and specialized payroll software.

Requirements

  • Understanding of Scottish payroll legislation and pension schemes
  • Successful applicants will be required to join or update their Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme membership.
