Full job description
Activities Coordinator – Plymbridge House, Plympton.
£12.85 per hour
30 hours per week, to include alternate weekends
What if your job wasn’t just about organising activities… but about helping someone truly live?
At Peninsula Care Homes, we believe moving into care shouldn’t mean leaving life behind. The comforts, routines and small pleasures that make life feel rich should still be part of every day. And that only happens because of people like you.
A rich life isn’t measured in tasks completed or charts updated. It’s measured in laughter over coffee. A favourite song that brings back memories. A walk in the sunshine. A shared joke. A quiet moment with someone who truly listens.
As an Activities Co-ordinator at Plymbridge House, your role is to help create those moments.
You’ll design and lead a wonderful mix of activities and events – music, art, games, gentle exercise, themed days, celebrations and more. But the most important part of the role is getting to know the people who live here: their stories, interests, passions and the little things that still make them smile.
One day you might be hosting a sing-along in the lounge. The next, helping someone plant herbs in the garden, organising a birthday celebration, welcoming an entertainer, or simply sharing a cup of tea and a conversation that brightens someone’s afternoon.
We call it our Rich Life Framework.
It’s our promise that moving into care should never mean leaving life behind. Everyone who lives with us deserves days that still feel familiar, meaningful and full of the things they enjoy.
For some residents that might be tending tomatoes in the garden. For others it’s music in the afternoon, a crossword, people-watching, or sitting somewhere sunny with someone who listens.
Your role is to help make those moments happen.
You’ll encourage everyone to take part – including those who are quieter, hesitant, or living with dementia. You’ll help create opportunities every day for connection, creativity, laughter and companionship.
You’ll also help shape the wider life of the home – welcoming visitors and community groups, coordinating entertainers, organising celebrations and themed days, and making sure new residents and families feel warmly welcomed from the moment they arrive.
At the end of each shift, we encourage our team to ask one simple question:
“Did I help someone live their rich life today?”
If that question matters to you, you’ll belong here.
Our CARE values – Committed, Ambitious, Responsible and Embracing – guide how we treat residents, families and each other. You’ll be part of a supportive team that celebrates small victories and takes pride in making a real difference.
