Area Manager – Retail & Commercial Cleaning

Location: South Region (Surrey, Hampshire & surrounding areas)
Salary: £40,000 + Company Vehicle/Allowance + Benefits
Contract: Full-Time, Permanent

We are recruiting for an experienced Area Manager to oversee multiple retail and commercial cleaning contracts across the South region.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a motivated operational leader with strong people management skills and a passion for delivering high standards within fast-paced retail cleaning environments.

The Role

You will be responsible for managing day-to-day cleaning operations across multiple sites, ensuring service delivery consistently meets client expectations and company standards.

The role requires a proactive and hands-on manager who can build strong client relationships, lead operational teams effectively, and ensure compliance across all sites.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage multiple retail and commercial cleaning contracts across the region.
  • Ensure cleaning standards and service delivery consistently meet contractual requirements.
  • Lead, support, and develop Supervisors and Cleaning Operatives.
  • Build strong working relationships with clients and site contacts.
  • Conduct regular site visits, audits, and compliance checks.
  • Manage recruitment, onboarding, rotas, absence cover, and employee performance.
  • Monitor labour costs, budgets, and operational efficiencies.
  • Ensure health & safety compliance, including COSHH and risk assessments.
  • Resolve operational issues and client concerns professionally and efficiently.
  • Manage stock control and ordering of cleaning materials and equipment.
  • Support new contract mobilisations where required.

About You

We are looking for an organised and commercially aware manager with experience overseeing multi-site retail or commercial cleaning operations.

Essential Experience & Skills

  • Experience managing multi-site cleaning operations within retail or commercial environments.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Excellent communication and client relationship abilities.
  • Good understanding of health & safety and cleaning compliance standards.
  • Experience managing staffing, rotas, and operational performance.
  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel between sites.
  • Flexible approach to working hours when required.

Desirable

  • BICSc, IOSH Managing Safely, or similar training qualification.
  • Experience completing audits and client reporting.
