The Opportunity

An established and growing food manufacturing business based in Perthshire is looking to appoint an experienced Production Manager to take ownership of the day-to-day running of its operations function.

This is a key operational leadership position with responsibility for ensuring production runs safely, efficiently and in line with customer requirements, while maintaining strong communication across the wider supply chain.

The successful candidate will work closely with internal teams including Supply Chain, Planning and Despatch, while also maintaining effective relationships with key external suppliers and growers.

This would suit a hands-on Production Manager who enjoys being close to the operation, leading people from the front and coordinating multiple stakeholders to ensure the site delivers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Take ownership of the day-to-day running of production and operational performance.
  • Lead, develop and motivate production teams, ensuring clear standards and accountability across the department.
  • Deliver against key operational KPIs covering quality, output, labour, waste and service.
  • Work closely with Supply Chain, Planning and Despatch to ensure production remains aligned with customer demand and material availability.
  • Build strong working relationships with external suppliers, ensuring effective communication around availability, quality and operational requirements.
  • Monitor production performance and proactively resolve issues that could impact output or customer service.
  • Drive improvements in productivity, efficiency, waste reduction and operational standards.
  • Ensure high standards of food safety, health & safety and GMP are consistently maintained.
  • Support labour planning and ensure resources are effectively deployed against production requirements.
  • Work collaboratively with Engineering, Technical and other site functions to minimise disruption and improve overall site performance.

About You

We are looking for an experienced operational leader who can demonstrate:

  • Previous experience as a Production Manager, Operations Manager, Manufacturing Manager or similar.
  • A strong background within food manufacturing and FMCG
  • Proven experience leading and developing sizeable production teams.
  • Strong understanding of production planning, labour management and operational KPIs.
  • The ability to communicate effectively across multiple departments and build strong relationships with external suppliers.
  • A practical, hands-on leadership style with the ability to make effective decisions in a fast-moving environment.
  • Strong continuous improvement and problem-solving capability.
  • Good understanding of food safety, quality and health & safety requirements.
