Opkill Pest Control Limited are a dynamic, small growing business within the Midlands, South West and Northern England. An exciting opportunity has been made available for trainee pest control technicians to join our growing team, to learn and be involved in a new career path, working on our council and commercial contracts.

We require people who have the right attitude to be flexible, go that extra little for customers and the business, conscientious, organised and innovative.

This is an ideal chance for anyone with either no pest control qualifications or basic level 1 qualifications as full training will be provided.

The area of work will mainly be between Worcester and Coventry, but at times be where business needs require.

You'll use chemicals and equipment to deal with insects and animals like rats, mice, insects, moles and birds. You could work anywhere from people’s homes to restaurants, sports stadiums, sewers, warehouses or farms.

Your day-to-day duties may include:

  • investigating and identifying pests
  • collecting dead animals and samples for analysis
  • finding out how pests are getting in
  • choosing a method of control
  • spraying chemicals to get rid of insects
  • laying poison and traps or using air guns to control birds and animals
  • repairing an area to stop pests returning
  • advising people how to prevent further problems
  • providing leads for preventative measures
  • completing reports and keeping records
  • handling and storing chemicals
  • getting rid of dead or captured animals

You'll need:

  • customer service skills
  • full, clean driving licence
  • confidence with maths for calculating doses of chemicals
  • practical skills to investigate problems
  • knowledge of health and safety
  • knowledge of how chemicals affect the environment

Your usual working days will be Monday to Friday, 8.30 am to 5.00pm, but Out of Hours work will be required occasionally. You'll often work alone, driving to jobs in a van.

You could work indoors or outside. You may need to crawl into confined spaces or climb ladders so need to be proficient with heights. You may also need to wear protective clothing.

You'll need physical fitness and good eyesight to investigate problems. You may come across unpleasant sights and smells.

This work may not be suitable if you've allergies or certain skin conditions.

Package

Basic salary starts from above NMW for no previous experience but rising quickly with qualifications and experience. Expectations of OTE £25k+ in first year.

Interviews

The job vacancy will close on 30th November 2023, with an expected job start on 2nd January 2024, although an earlier start date may be possible.

Interviews will take place at our Head Office in Pershore, on a Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday between the 21st November and 7th December 2023. Interviews will be arranged between 9.30 am and 3.00pm. You will need to be able to attend an interview to be considered.
