Pest Control Proofing Technician – London

Location: London and surrounding areas
Salary: £34,000 basic salary + up to £2,000 per annum performance bonus

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced and motivated Pest Control Proofing Technician to join our growing team, working across London and the surrounding areas.

The successful candidate will specialise in rodent proofing and pest exclusion works across both domestic and commercial properties. The role will involve identifying pest entry points, carrying out detailed inspections and completing high quality proofing works to prevent rodent and other pest ingress.

We are particularly interested in candidates who have practical experience in rodent proofing, with additional experience in bird proofing and/or drainage related pest issues being highly desirable.

This is a hands on role suited to someone who takes pride in their workmanship, has good attention to detail and is comfortable working independently at customer premises.

Key Responsibilities

• Identify rodent entry points, harbourages and potential routes of ingress.
• Complete professional rodent proofing and exclusion works.
• Install and maintain suitable proofing materials and barriers.
• Carry out proofing works to buildings, walls, service penetrations, doors, vents and other potential pest access points.
• Carry out bird proofing and bird exclusion works where required.
• Liaise professionally with customers and provide clear explanations of works undertaken.
• Complete job reports, photographs and relevant documentation accurately.
• Work alongside pest control technicians where proofing works form part of a wider pest management programme.
• Ensure all works are completed safely, professionally and to a high standard.
• Maintain company vehicles, tools and equipment to a good standard.
• Follow company health & safety procedures and risk assessments.
• Represent the company professionally at all times.

Essential Requirements

• Previous practical experience in rodent proofing / pest exclusion.
• Good understanding of how rats and mice gain access to buildings.
• Practical, hands on approach with good attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and manage a daily schedule.
• Good communication and customer service skills.
• Full UK driving licence.
• Comfortable working in a variety of environments, including domestic properties, commercial premises, external areas and potentially confined or awkward working spaces.
• Good standard of written and photographic reporting.

Desirable Experience

The following experience would be highly advantageous:

• Bird proofing and bird exclusion, including netting, spiking and other bird-control systems.
• Drainage experience, particularly identifying or addressing rodent access associated with drainage systems.
• Previous experience within the pest control industry.
• Knowledge of integrated pest management (IPM).
• Experience working alongside local authorities, housing associations, facilities management companies or commercial clients.
• Relevant pest control or proofing qualifications.

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for someone who is practical, reliable and customer focused, with genuine experience in pest proofing and exclusion work.

You will need to be confident identifying the cause of a pest problem rather than simply treating the symptoms. A strong understanding of building construction, pest behaviour and practical methods of preventing access will be important.

The successful candidate will take pride in delivering a high quality finish and will understand that good proofing is about finding the source of the problem, providing an effective solution and preventing recurrence.

Bird proofing and drainage experience would be a significant advantage and may provide opportunities to take on a wider range of specialist works.
